Out of deference to dairy farmers, while they do pronounce it thus (at least in Vermont), they spell it teats.

My late father-in-law, who was a retired AT&T exec and, generally, a pretty circumspect fellow, told me that joke one fine New England day when we were puttering in his barn/workshop many, many years ago.
It was the one and only off-color joke I ever heard him tell.
