A Call For Humor!

Yuo can buy beige retro cases for your modern PC :D

That's quite neat. A bit like having a "sleeper" or "Q-car" car, one that looks completely stock on the outside, but has an engine swap, twin turbos, nitrous and can do a standing quarter mile in under 10 seconds. :)

I always wonder about that era of computing. Who decided that off-white/beige was the colour for computers, PC components and peripherals?

Everything was available in beige, but each component was a slightly different shade of beige, so the completed ensemble was always a bit of miss-matched mess.

As a design graduate, this irked me.
If only we could find the interior designer from the 80’s who had such hate for the colors of the previous generation: brown, orange, turquoise and avocado green!

Cos without that person we might well have been stuck in the 70s for 2 more generations.

Can you imagine if your computer chassis was turquoise blue?!

o_O

Sun workstations came in some odd colours:

I'm sure they made a teal/turquoise model, but I can't find a picture.

Edit - I'm thinking of Silicon Graphics:

I think the beige thing in the 80s may have had more to do with the fact that most early PCs were nicotine stained after a few years....:)
My first "IT" job was for a startup in a garage with a screened in garage door, where everyone smoked (inside)...including the (very used) wavesolder machine.

What pronouns does it use?
And does it drive a Subaru?
Yes, but...
a big Subaru.

They fit alright. Nothing a dremel can't fix.
Indeed.
There is little which a Dremel cannot rectify.
... and, for those cases that elude a Dremel's wiles...
well... that's what the Sawzall is for.
:)

Beyond that, we're in the range of plastic explosives.

Oh yes, this was horrible. But OTOH the logical decision would IMHO be to have black cases instead of beige.

Alternatively, one might postulate that productive meeting(s) is an oxymoron -- perhaps by definition.
;)
And, as a subliminal warning, oxymoron includes the word moron
