Not changed.

Besides, cartoon rules trump reality, always.

Also, Gary Larson was an avid musician and Jazzer.

Nope—nobody expects photorealism from Gary Larson anyway. Or even a passing resemblance. That has always been the caption for the cartoon.

(FYI I once possessed 120 LPs, 25 78s and a little box of EPs [the Verve Big Band sides] of Charlie Parker.)
