Seen on the window of an Australian Banh Mi shop. I don't know what American magpies are like, but down here they are real bastards. They attack people for no reason.

A picture of a dead crow would’ve been better. This is an American magpie that tried to break through my front door 2 weeks ago in the middle of the night.Found it the next morning.View attachment 451379
Actually, it was probably sick or injured prior to arriving at my doorstep as my security camera indicates it rolled off the garage roof. Smart birds (as most corvids tend to be). They follow me around the yard when I check my rodent live traps looking for a handout.
I'd never heard about American Magpies and had to look them up...
Australian vs American Magpie:
The American magpie and the Australian magpie are both black and white birds often called magpies, but they are not closely related. The American magpie is part of the crow and jay family (Corvidae), while the Australian magpie belongs to the Artamidae family.
American magpies are not territorial nor do they dive bomb innocents who happen to wander too close to their nest.
