Indeed. I was thinking back - fondly - on 3.11 when I saw the Bill Gates meme earlier today.Strictly speaking the counting system goes 3, 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98.
Or: 3, 3.5, 4, 5(XP), Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10,11
These sequences should be on an IQ test.

I'm sorry to admit that Bill was incorrect in his counting. He's getting old and forgot Windows Millennium

I forgot some because I never used them. Millennium followed 98 in the 16 bit Windows world. I just forgot 7 entirely. A shame, because many considered that to be their best.Indeed. I was thinking back - fondly - on 3.11 when I saw the Bill Gates meme earlier today.
I also reflected on Windows for Workgroups, which was kind of a little appendix to the numbers line along the Windows axis. I am pretty sure there's a set of disks (floppies!?!) for that here someplace. Pretty sure there are distribution CDs for Windows NT, here, as well -- that was Win4, wasn't it? Probably both in the same box. I even know which box they're probably in. No. I am not proud of that.![]()

NT stands for "New Technology".Everything is based on NT now. As in NTFS.
Windows 11 = Windows 10.0.22000Windows 98 = Windows 4.1
Windows ME = Windows 4.9
Windows 2000 = Windows 5.0
Windows XP = Windows 5.1
Windows Vista = Windows 6.0
Windows 7 = Windows 6.1
Windows 8 = Windows 6.2
Windows 8.1 = Windows 6.3
Windows 10 = Windows 10.0
Pretty logical...
