But I really like being in Belgium, it's very close to me and I'm often in Liege and Brussels.

Germany is a lot bigger, so...

But it's true, Germans know how to brew good beer, and are with the Czech the only real competition for Belgians beers i think. But that is a subjective judgement off course...

That's why we had so much trouble with English in my hometown Bruges back in the 90's. They took the ferry to come drink here but can't handle our beers and then cause trouble. They were easy to deal with altough, because very drunk..

We in Belgium call Heineken and Amstel piswater (don't need a translation i think from Dutch) and if you compare it to our standard Belgian pilser beers (Stella Artois, Jupiler, Alken Maes, ...) it is. Even our Carapils (lowlife low quality cheap beer) is better most think.

But we Dutch dialects speaking Belgians like to cuss our Dutch friends all the time. It's a part of our culture to be a bit rude to our friends... Something foreigners don't always get.

I was always told by my European friends that Stella Artois was considered a cheap beer that young kids drink (compared, say, to fine Belgian beers like Westmalle, Leffe or Duvel.)

Been to this one also, but stopped in time. Getting everyone to back up so that I could reverse and turn out of there was sheer frustration. Finally broke down and bought a truckers GPS that included DOT verified bridge heights.
