As a former butcher and chef, I was training a kid to break poultry (duck, guinnea hen, squab, quail) and said something to the effect that as “chicken is the closest living relative to the Tyrannosaurus and if they ever cloned a dinosaur and you have to break it down, you should be able to do it! It’s just a matter of shape and scale.”
Poor kid thought I was serious.
My prep cook was on the other side of the kitchen in stitches.

I miss those days. The ability to earnestly yet gently abuse your coworkers is a lost art. Now, nobody gets it and you’re just a human resource liability.

Same restaurant, different day, I was fabricating some protein… knife in hand… same prep cook as mentioned above gooses me with a sheet tray sliding up between my cheeks while yelling “credit card!” in my ear.
