We lived in The Bay Area (Silicon Valley) for a few years in the late-80s/early-90s. There was a substantial drought in those days (if you can imagine such a thing?!
) -- but, I'll tell you what: in the winter, the weather would be glorious all week... but almost every weekend brought rain. 
California is a funny place. Not like a clown funny -- the other kind.
