A Call For Humor!

You'll have to explain all those to me, as none of them make any sense!

I get the Joseph Ducreux self-portrait, but not the memes.

that image as smart-aleck of yore trope for memes has a long and storied history.
@Boris Badinov's recent bolus of such memes are mostly (and presumably all-ly ;)) song lyrics.

For example (and I love feeling professorial):

evokes a couplet from Pete Townshend's song I Can See for Miles.
I know you've deceived me
Now here's a surprise
I know that you have
'Cause there's magic in my eyes

Post 30,868 is a gentle and kind-hearted tribute to the very recent passing of Rhoades EDIT ahem Rhodes scholar, military helicopter pilot, singer-songwriter-actor, and all around good ole boy, Kris Kristofferson, who - among other fine songs - penned Me and Bobby McGee.

und so weiter, und so fort

Like Al Stewart's version of My Generation:-

People attempt to belittle us
Merely because we are circumnavigatory
Look, I don't wish to be overly melodramatic about this
I'm just referring to my peer group.
Discussing my contemporaries
Discussing my contemporaries.

Thanks for die Erklärung :)

Well, heck.
A lunchtime phone conversation with my son* (who is wont to call us on his nigh-on daily pre-prandial perambulation on his "lunch hour") led to his telling (reminding, says he) me, rather pointedly that Peggy and Peg are short forms of the name Margaret.

Being a Who fan, that’s the only one I got. I always thought it should have been more popular.
