Around a Thanksgiving meal two years ago, several younger people were talking about this and laughing about it. Why do you use a period texting or a question mark? Later during the year twice some younger people not all that well known to me complained when I did it. I at first thought to create texts where leaving it out would make it much more ambiguous. The first time I had a second text a few seconds later calling me a condescending grammar nazi. I decided creativity was wasted. My reply that time was, "F*ck off!". The 2nd text a few months later of similar attitude was less nasty, but I didn't even think about it, and replied the same. I mean really, it certainly didn't reduce meaning of the text. It didn't make it more difficult to understand. Mostly learning in school just has that ingrained in my habit of writing. If it wasted a few milliseconds of my time, it was my time, and undoing the habit would be more wasteful for me. So rather bizarre to complain about imo. If there is ambiguity about passive-aggression, I just turn it into easily understood old fashioned aggression.

I consider it terribly inconsiderate to text asking a question. Then when I call because I could answer a moderately complex question in 30-60 seconds or spend 10 minutes sending snippets of texts I get no answer. Lots of people 25 and under almost don't answer their phone. One case is asking for some money as in a loan. I consider it better if you want money to call me. Not ask with a cold text. Younger people consider it abusive for me to want a call because they are embarrassed to need to borrow money and making them call they consider forcing them to grovel. ?????
