Holy crap... You are not kidding. :) My son plays electric guitar and is always asking me about them but I don't know much about them. Was this produced commercially and what was the intent behind it? My picture of a guitar amp is an ugly box with some tubes in it, humming all the time. :D

No it was used to match the speaker cabinet to the amp and remove box distortion and bass over load, but if the cabinet was designed right it was not needed.

Good morning Colin and Dynamix. ...Guitar/bass amps...solid state or tube? ...Personal preference...strictly sound's appeal wise.
Mine was mixed and you could choose between Tube input or Semi, but the guys loved the semi best and thought because the tube was so noiseless it was transistor. All to do with good PSU my design I paste it up so you can play.

I like it; DSP chip @ the rescue of imperfect acoustic box.
Was the room where the box was in similar condition?
