Some exemples found on internet of audio racks using 80/20 aluminium extrusions.
Simply stated 80/20 is a T-slot construction system you can use to build virtually anything

A lot of information available on https://8020.net/l
Online catalog : https://catalogs.8020.net/?bookcode=02319enu

The Parker T-Slot Aluminum Design Architect software allows you to take more creative control over your assembly designs.

And one of the model made by Martin:
And my most expensive model, the one I still have and use today:

Very nice! I used 8020 on a simpler project, stands for my AR 3a speakers. The stands are simpler than your equipment rack, of course, but 8020 stock allows one to choose dimensions easily. I used the aluminum-colored stock, then spray painted them black. (My speakers are unfinished pine also painted black.)

I tried to start a business in 2009 manufacturing audio racks. I used 8020 extrusions and butcher blocks.

My prototype:

Formidable ! Connecting parts are almost invisible ! And the spikes give an audiophile style.

I take it that the business didn't succeed. That is too bad, your products are easily customizable and look very nice.

Yeah. You can build single, double and triple wide racks with any number of shelves. After showing with Von Schweikert and Fritzspeakers at two consecutive RMAF shows and only selling a few racks I decided to pack it up. It didn’t help that ABF lost the racks I shipped to the first show and only found them in warehouse after the show had ended. Oh well. I got into it because I wanted to build racks for my use. It would have been nice if I could have made a business out of it. Live and learn.

"Do it Yourself" series Rack building components
Those of you that are familiar with "T-slot" extruded aluminum recognize the versatility of this system. Much like a childs erector set, these universal components allow you to design and build a rack having virtually any configuration you can imagine. We offer these racks two ways: Complete turn-key rack packages or as mix-n-match component sets. Just send us a sketch or a written description of you requirements and will provide you with all the materials needed to build your "custom" rack.

You all have made so many cool designs... so clever.

I worked for a year on this project to let you design your 8020 / wood projects online so you can get the exact bill of materials for when you go to build it!

It's totally free... It might be useful to those of you who aren't familiar with 8020 and all the different kinds of joints already. I put some examples of things you could design below.

Check it out and let know if you have any feedback so I can improve it! https://www.craftyamigo.com/

The Klippel used by Amir and Erin seems to be made using 80/20 extrusions:

Older thread but I thought I'd post my stereo rack that I bought and have used since around 1978. It has no manufacturer name on it and I've never seen another one. Early version of 8020 I'd say. Obviously it's for standard rack mountable equipment and I've since added a lower shelf. The top shelf is held up by a couple of "wings" that are bent aluminum that fit into the slots which are definitely not any sort of standard 8020 that I've seen.

If more/better pictures are wanted let me know. These were taken a few years ago.

Currently working on an aluminum extrusion audio rack myself. Nothing special. The shelves were left over from an old bookcase. Measurements were converted from ft-in to mm hence the weird numbers. Just waiting for the last extrusion delivery. Hopefully will have it built later this week.
