So currently I have canton 420.2 gle speakers I’m looking to upgrade them this is on a desk running off a smsl a12 amp through a topping d10 I use them for mostly vocal edm and rock music bands like nirvana and volbeat etc the speakers are decent but after a while they get tiring I’m looking for a less bright more midrange and better clarity with a bit of kick from the bass no room for a sub in this room my main system has 2 rhythmic fv18s with jbl studio 290 towers this is for when I’m working or just relaxing on the computer I have 500 to spend maybe 600 of the jump is really worth it

If you want to go slightly higher, but with free shipping. The price is discounted from MSRP. Should give you good mid bass for your EDM.

Erin's review. Not bad for a $800 retail price

Just a heads up.
The first link you provided is for v1, and the second link is for v2.
V2 is the same as Wave 2 or Gen 2.

Are you wanting passive since you already have the amp? If so I suggest the Aperion Audio Novus N5B bookshelf speaker. Silk dome tweeter with a smooth but detailed sound, front ported. Should work well on your desk.

Also consider the Silverline Minuet Supreme Plus. Another warm but detailed sound that should work well for you.

The only reason I mentioned active was your listening habits, including bass heavy music. The Philharmonic Mini Monitor would be an excellent speaker in that price range. $550 for the ported version. The SB Acoustics drivers have been well received by many.

If you have not done so already, maybe try EQ using REW and some inexpensive DIY room treatment before spending money on new speakers.

Do you have a picture of the SMSL A12 on the inside?
