$500 amplifiers to test and review?

I have been running 3 of the Yamaha AS-x01's in my triamped system. I have a AS-301 on each of the MF and HF drivers and a 701 on the LF. They really work nice in this arrangement as since I am using a DSP, I can bypass all tone controls.

how are you doing the DSP and multi channel output? This is the question being grappled with on the ASR Streamer thread too

I had been using the MiniDSP 4x10HD for DSP and crossover, using its mediocre MC DAC's but this year I switched to this all analog crossover:
SublimeAcoustic K231 3 way active crossover and a Modi 3 upstream of it. I still keep the 4X10HD in there but just for its PEQ ability, with digital in/out. Eventually as funds materialize I want to replace the 4x10 with the MiniDSP SHD Studio.

It seems to me that the only bit of electronics which may fail to be audibly transparent these days (apart from incompetent stuff) is a power amplifier into real speakers.
Most solid state amps work fine into an 8ohm power resistor but how well they work into complex speaker loads seems not to be tested, or at least not published.
Stereophile do publish the influence of amplifier output impedance on the frequency response due to a simulated speaker load, which shows a lot of amps will sound different if only simply due to this.
I have always rather fancied seeing how well different amplifiers cope with real speaker loads.
I am not particularly interested by headphone amplifiers myself.
im with you not at all interested with headphone amplifiers .

Does anyone own a JVC AX-1010TN amplifier? I`ve always wondered how it will measure, digital and analog sections.

I'd like to see the entire Hifiberry catalog measured, dacs and amps. With 500 $ you can probably get all of them.

Other SBC gear would also be nice.

Don't know if some of this ones components are tested here, but i have one of these and it sounds exceptionally good.

cheers

Cheapest way to get Pascal S-PRO2 modules (also used in D&D 8c)? ~350-380€ per module (~330-350$ ex vat)

Fan only starts at 85C, which is nice. Read some complaints about poor quality input boards (and even passing them).. too bad about selling only in EU for measurements..
Where did you read the complaints about "poor quality" input boards @hege? In what way are the input boards "poor quality"? In terms of sound or build or what?

Thanks for the gut photos (although the "more pictures" link requires some sort of login I don't have) - on one hand, the 1000 looks so much more "bare" / "empty" inside, but on the other hand, the 2000 looks compromised, with one of the heatsinks reduced in size to clear the power switch cabling, and restricted airflow to the front vents.

(Edit: discussion continued privately)

Some 'speakers, like my B&W 801s, even have a large (1000uF) capacitor in series with the bass unit.

Which Series is that? I had Series II’s for many years. Do not remember them having AC coupled woofers.
