Why is this? When the video left side surround, my right speaker plays and viceversa

should I disconnect the TRS on my Motu and switch them?

You have your cables crossed somewhere - either connecting cables or speaker cables.

That aside, don't rely on YT videos for multichannel/surround sound testing as YT content is only two channels.

I fixed it lol

didn't notice the interface had L and R markings

Your interface?
In any case just reverse the connections.

Also you might go here and try their test.

YouTube does actually support 5.1 audio to be uploaded and streamed to the end user, in which case the "Stats for nerds" window will display audio format 256 or 258.

The one OP posted above shows 251.

Do you have a link to a YT video that has 5.1 audio? Maybe I need to have a 5.1 audio setup in order for YT to serve me that kind of audio track? All I have is stereo.

I've been getting 5.1 on some YT content, some music as well as movies. Try this https://www.youtube.com/@5.1MusicChannel

ps You may be able to detect 5.1 content, but doesn't sound like you can play it....

256 or 258 = what?

= YouTube's ID number for one of its many different audio formats that it streams to users. More info here.

It was my bad, I had connected them wrong without thinking, didnt realize the interface had left and right markings at the end of it, would have been more obvious if they had put L and R next to the holes

Just curious, when your say "interface" are you referring to some minidsp box, an AVR, PrePro, I'm confused.
Haven't heard that term used before.

I'm a guitar player

Here it is

I meant you couldn't play it in the 5.1 format....I assume the Roku downmixed it?
Roku supports 5.1 formats and passes them to my AVR, which detected it as Dolby Digital+ (EAC-3).

But on my PC, where I only have a stereo DAC, that video wouldn't even show that it had a 5.1 track available. I guess YT checks what audio capabilities you have and serves you the appropriate audio track.

I thought you just had the stereo playback system.....afaik most of the streaming services check your video/audio capability and provide suitable content....
