The standard for XLR voltage is 4v but a lot of DACs put out 5v like my topping d70s.

Could this potentially harm a headphone amplifier?

My Burson Soloist 3X arrives today and I want to treat it well.

No, just do not turn it up so loud that it distorts badly. Treat it, and your ears, well by keeping the volume reasonable.

For the record, we are talking about the top 2 dB of dynamic range, out of 125 dB(A) total. It's not a range you should be hitting on a regular basis anyway. That being said, the specs on the Burson are fairly useless, and there is no way of telling what its input overload level is.
Exactly this. I emailed Burson and they told me it’s the standard voltage which would be 4v
