Thinking of upgrading (hopefully not moving sideways) my close to 20 year old Mackie HR824 (currently controlled by Wiim Ultra) to either Revel F36 plus subwoofer and Vibelink amp or JBL 4349p, total cost would be similar. Room is approximately 10 by 15 with minor treatments , I sit about 8 feet away in an equilateral triangle. Interested in hearing peoples thoughts. I currently have F35 with sub in another room (open space, no treatment, very less than ideal). Interested in hearing what others think!

Those old Mackies actually aren't that bad in the dispersion department, have you considered complementing them with subs to take some load off of the woofers and amps?

BTW, how are you currently avoiding ground loop issues?

To some extent it depends on which sub you choose. Have one in mind?
If you stick with Mackie, presumably you would be able to max on sub…probably giving the greatest satisfaction/$.

Thanks, I thought about it, but decided against it because the Mackies are old and the space I,m in makes subwoofer integration hard. The Mackies worked better in my old house where they were nearfield, now in midfield they dont work as well. Never had a problem with ground loops (ran them balanced thru an emotiva pre amp, which after it broke the 2nd time and was out of warranty I replaced with Wimm Ultra, very happy) currently unbalanced (phono to RCA) and both are fine, no noise or hum or hiss. I have decided to go with the JBLs for simplicity sake and because newer technology and I like powered speakers.

I love JBL. But Revel + sub > 4349p alone, I reckon.
Thanks for the reply, Revels do sound good and look great, but I decided to go with the JBL 4329 (in white) for the newer tech and simpler set up, should have them next week and will report back.
