The new Wiim amp is based on this chip. Let's hope that the implementation was excellent as well.
It likely has no PFFB, they would have said so as loud as they could.
I suspect it's performance will be below this module, maybe somewhere like a Fosi V3.

If it is performant, at $299, not sure why I would DIY this box.

The Wiim also gets you a remote. streamer, HDMI input, volume control and subwoofer output.

It will have around 93 SINAD, so 8dB short. More in line with the Fosi and Aiyima offerings performance wise. Probably no PFFB, but with room correction or EQ, no big deal. For only stereo, this is definitely the better deal.

Thanks, not like I was going to suddenly drop any of my Hypex/Purifi stuff but will keep it in mind.

For the smaller speakers and room I would use it in, not worried much about SOTA specs.

-think the Dimensions are too small.
SMPS MP-H250S48 is 126 x66 and the 3e audio TPA3255 is 120 x 85 so I make that 246mm long for the 230mm case.

DId I miss something were you stacking or overlapping?
You need to consider the enclosure design in the whole equation for the thermal dissipation.

Would be really nice if somebody like Ghent put together an enclosure with hardware and wiring. I imagine a suitable SMPS could be had on Amazon for l.t. $40-50. Maybe $250-300 for everything plus a tiny little bit of sweat equity.
Yes…or if there was a shopping list somewhere…surely there is a forum for such things on ASR!

This is a somewhat macabre accusation.... I have no stock in 3E Audio.
I'm just sharing my enthusiasm because I opened my previous thread based on this module. Just like I did for the DrMordor modules at the time.
And believe me man, you're going to have to bear with me a little longer because I'm going to test the next 3E Audio Mono module soon....;)

I think 3E Audio doesn't need me to be sufficiently appreciated)

No problem then, I asked you to disclose and now you have. Thank you for that

Alas no longer available as far as I can see. Be nice if they at least made a list of recommended cases as power supplies one could buy elsewhere.

In stock for me )

For the case check this :

To help you for psu case etc...

Ah thanks so much! I thought you meant there was a kit with all three combined (case, psu and amp board).

Just ordered one from 3e-audio's aliexpress store (their website links there, too). Tried putting two in the basket. Shipping nearly doubles, but you also get a second $10 discount. What kept me from ordering two at the same time was that they did this VAT tax deduction thing. As with everything on aliexpress, they will not collect tax on any single order above € 150, even if there is no good reason (yes, duty is only charged after € 150, but there is no duty on electronics.

That makes it a gamble. Since you can't control the shipping method, you may end up paying the full VAT and a steep brokerage fee. Had the opposite just happen to me. Ordered a PA5 II from the Linsoul shop. Somehow I overlooked the correction - the basket still said including VAT, but if you clicked to two more levels, it was really subtracted. The substraction happed to be almost the same as a discount that was advertised but somehow not applied. Anyway, the package ended up underdelared, but with a huge brokerage fee. That I didn't know until the bill arrived several weeks later.

I am curious: when you order from the US, do you get charged customs or tax?

Normally the invoice you receive must be valid for VAT in Europe. I know a few people have had issues with this but legally, if you present the invoice to the postal service, there should be no issues. However, I placed an order in two payments of less than €100 for each of my modules (so as not to exceed the legal amount of €150)

Does it include speaker protection - I didn't see it listed in the manual - is there a consensus on what out there would work?
thx

Yes, the IC has robust protections against many failures.

Can someone teach me how to read the 20Hz curve on this graph? Why the hack at any measured level there are two correspondent measured distortions?

I never have myself. If the discount for two is so low you might as well order them separately and avoid them adding tax on the combined sum of two if I am understanding you correctly. Or order from audiofonics in the eu and pay a bit more but have some warranty recourse with them and super cheap shipping. It might end up being a wash.

The test sweeps output power from low to high, in discrete steps.

1. Noise dominates and so THD+N improves with power.
2. The Amp reaches its current limit, distortion increases with level. Max 123W
3. One step after 123W and the Amp's protection circuit triggers, massively cutting back power.
The AP software just connects the 123W data point and the protection data point with a straight line.
