3e Audio TPA3251 TPA3255 Finished Amplifier with PFFB is coming!

Price incl VAT for the A5 is actually €3 cheaper on Audiophonics for me - €279 vs €282,39

And shipping cost to Belgium is around half.

A5 seems to be sold out on AliExpress currently.
The A5 is €281.33 incl. VAT. I think your VAT is still set to 19% on the site. If you put the country in your profile to Belgium, VAT will increase to 21%.

In my country it is 27%.....
Hence a coupon code might come in handy - not to mention that if there was a code for Aliexpress, there shall be one for Audiophonics too

Why does there have to be one for Audiophonics?

It was more an early bird/early adopter discount, no? A month has passed since then...

because I (and a lot of other folks here) could not order it from Aliexpress since it does not deliver to our countries...
so this is still an early-bird sales for us

Yes, I filled out the initial form and was deterred because of the distribution issue (to France) so + 1.
I think someone shared the coupon publicly here or on an associated thread though, which equally is not right imo, so if @3eaudio did do something it would need to be conditional.

This is absolutely the right thing to do, except no one else can follow your path because this equipment is nowhere available and not at this price ;)
Actually, all this equipment is available brand new, still. Not at that price (especially for the speakers), true. But even at 90 EUR per side (plus wood) these speaker kits are nothing but a bargain in my book.

There are plenty cheap subwoofers out there (even more in the US than in Europe, i think) that easily match or better that Monoprice sub I used. I will go so far and say: It doesn't even matter so much which one you get. As long as it's half decent mechanically and doesn't set the house on fire, PEQ like found in the fine WiiM Ultra will make it blend nicely and tame any excess boom. :)

That's quite a specialized system ! ... you are answering quite a few questions with both those systems of yours using the A5. I mean, you've got two 'extremes' going in parallel in the sense of 'not exactly mainstream'. And not majorly efficient either.
And so far the 3e Audio A5 absolutely excels in both setups. Have been listening to the Radio Paradise Mellow Mix all day and it's been pure joy.

I'll also be comparing with a pair of V3 monos but I've got to go pick the A5 up 1000 miles away in a couple of weeks! Worth it for the discount now I see the prices on Audiophonics.
Good luck with the pickup and have some fun comparing.

Amirm's review looks just a tad sloppy, not really recognizing his unit as a pre-production sample. But luckily his measurements are absolutely in line with what Archimago had already posted. These amplifiers are absolutely worth the non-discounted asking price. Even better if we still do get a discount. ;)

I'm done for the moment, two A5 amps is actually more than I really need, already. :p

Radio Paradise Mellow Mix plays flac! Cool... Good link!

Feedback on systems is really useful - your Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 are v. high end in my book, and with 4 ohms and 85 db ... so for them to be driven easily by the A5's is, well, v useful to know. The actual dB increase vs 'watts' is small (vs 3255), and I am pretty sure being unaffected by loudspeaker impedance counts for much more... and being able to fit the power supply in hand luggage!

I'm using Triangle Titus 202's - direct coupled bass/mid driver (no crossover) - very efficient - no problem. Not great for 'punch' ... and a subwoofer with these just fills the sound 'down'. So I picked up a pair of Triangle Heliade ES floor standers for 'punch', and they certainly do 'punch' even if the cabinet plays along a bit. @Piotr 's Monitor Audio BX2's would need to provide the punch already (re. subwoofers). I'm told we get this sense in the 60 to 250 Hz range.

But that is listening with the V3 Monos ... so yes I will compare before the end of the month. I'm also interested in that 'first watt' you mentioned.

Inspired move by 3e to put in clipping monitors ... I could still be tempted by that discount coupon ;-).

It wasn't an early bird discount so much as a "thank you" discount for those participating in the discussions and polling that influenced the product definition.

Unfortunately those codes often didn't work, subsequent no-code discounts came and went with no warning or deadline, all while some of us were waiting (and continue to wait) on some resolution to the obvious shortcoming of a 5A power supply for the A7 models.

In hindsight, perhaps I should have ordered the A7 when the 15% discounting was functioning and found my own 10A power supply.

any good opamps to recommend?
If you look back on this thread to an early'ish page you will see that 3e provided measurements of many of the main op amp options they had available to them, and, well, you can judge for yourself. It looks they have shipped with OPA1656's, but could have with any of the others ...

It sure beats other companies (mentioning no names) who seem intent on promoting op amp swapping as opposed to optimized design with tests ... bravo 3e!

My a5SE from AliExpress arrived with 5532's. Wondering if OPA1642 are compatible? as I have some sitting here.

Interestingly Audiophonics list the A5SE as having OPA1656 fitted.

I don't see why not - 3e cited 1612's also - there were a few they tested - follow link by harkpabst above.

I have not fetched my A5 yet to see what came with mine ... might be interesting if people chipped in with which came with theirs ... ?

A5, bought through AliExpress. Two times OP1656, as announced by 3e Audio.

just found some op amps lying around. swapped out the op1656 x2 to opa2227 x2 and the RCA op amp to muses 02

Did you notice any difference? Especially with the RCA to balanced circuit? I'd be surprised, especially in the latter cases.
