Hi sorry I quoted you for the pic.

Does anyone know why my opa1656 looks so different. Most images I find match the above.

they are different manufacture date with different marking.

which one you see from other member? except the first 20pcs samples for ASR and some other reviewer.
i think you may not get the product info up to day.
understand your confusion.
if we sellling a product without what it should be, there gona lots of trouble for us.

Yes it seems it was preproduction model. Obviously relay for 12V trigger

Yes you are right, they are the older marking

Letter type and rest check out, so it is genuine opa1656. But, and I think that is a problem, it has been yanked of an old board. You can see the plyer marks. Tremendous heat used in removing resulting in discoloration of the legs, flaking of the housing, probably has been in an acid bath too. I do not think it is wise to run that kind of components. It works for now but could go poof any moment.

Can't help since you are continuing to use Imgur rather than uploading your images to the forum.

I confess I prefer the look of mine! Mine also matches the look of a couple of others I received on another machine.

It's an image of poor quality showing clear signs of typical "AI correction" built into smartphones. Impossible to draw any conclusions from that.

I can see with my own eyes the discoloration of the legs, also the mark on the right side is visible.

I don't know what you can or cannot see.

I only judge these useless pictures you want to be able to withdraw from the Internet any time you want and I don't even know if you took it yourself. I do see the extremely poor quality and that's all I commented on.

I have seen many dis colored leads on brand new, stored but never used, ICs like that that are plated with 100% tin i.e. no lead

This may be similar to the Fosi "fake TI" issue. In that analysis we learned that Texas instruments has several fabrication plants which can make their opamps and despite the chips being internally the same, the packaging on a chip fabricated by TI in the U.S. appears different from the packaging of one which was fabricated by TI in Asia. Both sources are legitimate.

Exactly - in a global supply chain, many manufactures have more than one plant manufacturing the same devices. Differences in appearance are common.

Who are you to judge how I handle pictures I use here? If there is a rule on this forum that says I am not allowed to, I will apologize. If not, please keep your comments to yourself.

Do a google lens search you genius, see what you can come up with.

You are free to post images how you like. I am just pointing out that if you use a method that a significant number of members can't access, you are limiting the amount of replies you can get that might help you.

I did not realize that, I'll upload them.

I know the quality is bad, but it is the best I could do without pulling the op amps

One is bi polar inputs (1612) the other FET (1656). I have no idea the requirements of this part in this design. But these parts are different.
