If Scarlett were to design an interface/DAC specifically for an all in one 2.1 device this is what I would hope or near imagine it to look like.

  • Big knob for main speakers and subwoofer control
  • Small knob for headphone control
  • Headphone 1/4" jack
  • USB in for audio from PC
  • Balanced Left Right TRS jacks for studio monitors
  • RCA subwoofer pre out for Powered subs (either single or dual RCA or multiple types of outputs for subs)
  • Either a switch or dial for internal crossover (or automatic detecting fixed 80hz or 60hzcrossover)
  • High pass for mains set to whatever crossover is desired (fixed or adjustable)
I think that's all that would be needed realistically for a complete 2.1 Audio Interface. It was fun doing a quick model and render of my hopes and dreams. I'm sure I am missing other features and settings but didn't want to go to far in modeling as I hate precise gear modeling with lots of details.

Realistically how many would you buy an interface like this and the sound quality of a good DAC for a 2.1 studio monitor with ANY home theater subwoofer for rooms or casual listening.
