300w Pure class A Monoblock search!

Hi

Never posted before. But I am in the search for a set of pure class a Monoblocks with a wattage output of 300w into 8ohms….. I cannot seem to find a useful site to help my search filters!

Does anyone know of any that don’t cost the earth?

Budgetary speaking in the region of £1500 each.

Hopefully you guys can help me find my endgame amps!!

I hope you have an air conditioner specifically for the amps. They'll be like room heaters, each burning off about 1,200W.

It very well may. It will be beastly expensive and frankly, a modern class D will probably sound better. And that's coming from a guy who uses a class A amp for his horns.

Before I was looking at the Emotiva A1 - which I guess is a bit of a trade off as a class AB - any thoughts on something like that?

My 25W output J2 dissipates 200W, and without a fan those heatsinks get hot. Your 300W amp will need proportionately more heatsinking and/or fans.

You can check and see if Amir measured the Emotiva. I still think you're best off with a modern class D.

Hi welcome to asr. Good luck finding anything in that price range that isn't dodgy aliexpress stuff from China. Try going 10x plus on money and you may possibly find something. Maybe old tube amps from a cinema could do it for cheap if you can find some for sale.

I'm no expert, some site said this was Class A. This is way larger than most space heaters, actually, at 110 pounds (50 kilos).

The Perreaux 750 is a class A/AB hybrid that might fit your request. It's 750 watts, not 300.
The Perreaux 350 is also a class A/AB that is in a stereo chassis.

Absolutely no chance.

If you could find one (which I doubt) you'd be looking at (probably multiple) 10Ks

The spec and budget are more than doable with Class D (example: https://nordacoustics.co.uk/product/nord-three-1et400a-mb-power-amplifier/) but with pure Class A I'm coming up blank. As others have noted it's not an efficient topology so I hope you live in a cold climate... 1200w of radiated heat is close to an actual space heater.
