Oh goodness, boar kalbi... that all looks amazing!

We had a couple of amazing experiences that video reminded me of.

We really wanted to go to a very nice traditional ryokan before we left. A friend had recommended this one. http://www.bankyu.co.jp/

They have some rooms with private onsen overlooking the river. Sharing with the wife and a drink which normal taboo, probably still is even in this setting, was a really special experience.

Then heading across the river to dinner for the evening.

For private dining over/at the irori.

We did go to Torshiki, but somehow I have no pictures!
We want to go to Torien this summer, which will be the sister shop in NYC, if possible... COVID and it opening or not.

And finally we brought a yakitori grill back and tired it for the first time last night!

Which turned out better than expected for our first try, especially considering we don't cook over a real fire or coals very often!

We have the wire grate for the grill too, so next up to try is some yakiniku!
We want to have friends and family over for dinner as we can safely do it, so we are experimenting on ourselves first. :)
