2026 Shenzhen International Audio Show SIAS

Now that you mention it, I recall reading that too:

But CDs? I find it hard to believe people buy those without listening to them. They don't exactly signal status, cultural sophistication, artistry, or provides opportunities for decoration(with CDs? Hardly) or whatever it is that drives people to buy vinyl without actually playing the records.

I think the manufacturing of new CD players could meet a growing demand—even though streaming is, of course, the dominant format.

I'd suggest you go and look at young people sharing their CD collections on Reddit, Youtube etc. It's not just men, either.

A report from July 2026 says a global increase in sales of Compact Discs is largely fueled by 'collectible' releases in the K-pop genre.

This parallels a 16% surge in CD sales, fueled by collectible K-pop releases.

I don't know how many of these collectible CD's are being played.

I’ve seen enough CD collections come into the used bins of my local record shop from sadly passed customers to know that having unplayed, or unopened, CDs is neither a new thing, nor something specific to younger collectors.

Hi @amirm,
What kind of tea did you drink?
Which restaurants did you visit?
What did you eat?
Which companies did you interact with?
What trends did you notice at the trade show?
Was there anything that surprised you?
Are there any devices you've decided to test?
Hi @amirm,
Are you still sorting through your photos and notes?
Will you be writing anything about your impressions of the Shenzhen Audio show?
I'd really appreciate it and be interested to read it—and I'm sure others would, too.

Yes, plan to do that. It is a bit of a hassle to figure out how to host them. Storage here is expensive and we are near our limit. Hosting them elsewhere makes the process painful to link to them when there are so many pictures. But for sure it is top of mind to post the pictures and reflect on the show.
