New discovery for me in 2025 and I've been lost in the back catalogue.

Ethel Cain: Nettles (all 8 min) from the immersive album "Willoughby Tucker, I'll always love you". Described as "gothic", whatever that means, but its dark, broody and fantastic.

I am going out on a limb here. Each year I develop an indie-folk track list, which I have featured in another thread. This year one of the tracks I selected was rejected by the panel, i.e. it did not make the top 40 that we published. One reason is that it is not strictly indie-folk, but probably the main reason is that it breaks the adage that a successful track must be 80% familiar, and present no more than 20% new content. However, the track was one of my personal favourites.
This track is 100% "new" material. Genre-wise, I would say jazz fusion with some pentatonic stuff. It is worth a listen all the way through as there is a lot of musical content in this track. It's also a lot of fun.

I haven't listened to enough new music lately to propose a "Best of 2025" nominee. But perhaps I can offer a "Best of 1925" choice?

Speaking of RAYE.

This time it was easy. This is without a doubt the best song of 2025. Fun, good groove, jazzy, funky with soul. :D

I voted for Raye "Where is my husband"
But this one made me cry...

Saw this whole album performed at London Palladium this year. Epic concept album, first track is my nomination-its simply brilliant.

With the year coming to an end, time is to nominate a track that was released in 2025 that captured your heart more than any other.

Please post a link to the video or the track so members can listen to it without searching.

Probably not quite what amir was thinking of but this song captured my heart more than any other song this year, it also captured the heart of my friends and mum, along with her friends as well to the point that we raised almost £1500 for his music therapy charity in Gaza to provide instruments and a shelter/safe space for the kids to sing

In October 2024, I took my son, who was 13 at the time, to his first real concert: a performance by his favorite German rapper at the time. Since the venue was not a typical concert hall but a club, it took quite a bit of discussion to convince the bouncers to let us in.

With perhaps 300 people, the club was completely full and the concert was a huge success. Since my son was standing on a box to see the stage, the artist (and support) on stage could see him aswell and interviewed him during the concert: asking for his name, how old he was, and what his favorite song was. After the concert, he was allowed to take a few pictures with him also.

Sometime in the middle of the concert, he announced that he had a song with him that he had only finished the day before and would now perform it for the first time as a world premiere. And although I'm not usually the type to take pictures or film at concerts, I recorded this track in its entirety.

Which turned out to be a very good decision: we both loved this track so much that we must have watched and listened to it 200 times on my phone because it just wasn't officially released. Until finally, a year later, in October 2025, that the new album and the track on it were released:
