Amir, you're the bench mark measuring audio scientist plus all other activities in the performing life's passion. You are 100% forgiven to not have the time for movies.

Anyone here watched the Academy Awards last night?

Anyone watched any of the nominated movies...like Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Irishman, Ford v Ferrari, Parasite, 1917, ...?

If you're more into music you have to give a chance @ Joker and 1917.
If you're more into technical visuals and sounds, go for 1917.
If you're into super high end comedy with a heavy touch of satire and horror, you have to give a chance @ Parasite. It's on DVD, even on Blu-ray. You can rent it.

Parasite made history last night...just Google it.
It's all about fun.

About animated films like Toy Story 4, or Klaus, or Missing Link?
Animated Short, Hair Love (Oscar winner)?

The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker?

Docs, American Factory? ...For Sama, Honeyland, The Cave, The Edge of Democracy?

Rocketman?

Few of them are on Netflix (@ least half dozen), do you subscribe?
Another bunch are avail on YouTube for free.

Some people hate the Oscars ceremony and all, that's ok.
Some people hate most films, that's ok too.
Not all people hate all films, there must one or two people have seen and they liked?
It's like Opera music and Classical music and Choral music; most people prefer electronica music, computer music, or Billie Eilish (she sang last night, a nightmare).
Or you prefer Eminem (he was there too).

I'm into audio myself, music, I play my own music, and I love Classical, Tango, Opera, Jazz, Blues, International, ... I love Wildlife documentaries, nature, world, ...
I love films too, all genres with great visuals and music tunes.

I'm just a tiny bit surprised that people are shy. ;-) (-;
I guess it is what it is.

* I know there are few hardcore movie fans here; they probably missed this thread.

I was totally taken out of the blue with Parasite (South Korean comedy/satire/horror flick with English subtitles) winning Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director.

This is so great as Hollywood is opening its doors wide open to all foreign movies in full embrace. You couldn't have dream of a better outcome in the capital of cinema in America.

Is Parasite truly better than 1917? No, but who cares, it's the spirit of the heart that counts in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

This, is entertainment. You want to laugh, watch Parasite...the visuals are very good too.
You want innovation in cinematography, in visuals, in sounds, with an excellent music score, a story that reverberates solid in the soul of men and women, a unique experience @ the movies as if it was shot in one take and you're right there following the actors in the countryside, in the trenches, in the river, in top of dead bodies, in the dirt, the guts, the airplane's crash, in the dark alleys of the destructed night city, in no man's land, ...watch 1917.

Next year @ the Oscars, anything goes ...

Joker has truly the best music score...it's the main character in the film.
Joaquin Phoenix is simply dancing to that music with his full body language...a winning recipe. But the film is heavy (violent). The sensitive type needs no apply.

Saw and enjoyed Once Upon a Time...
Waiting to complete my new home theater setup before seeing 1917.
Pretty much haven’t been to a theater since Hunger Games.

1917 is truly the tour-de-force in cinema last year, it should have won All.
Well, five or six Oscars. It won 3.

The Oscars are always funny every year. It never goes without few surprises.

Looking back @ the Oscars last Sunday I failed miserably in anticipating what was coming.
Forget that my predictions ended up correct with 17 for 21, I missed the two most important ones...Best Picture and Best Director. This is unforgivable.

It's time for me to go back and learn on what makes films so special with the majority of audiences around the world and with Academicians of the filming industry. There's a parallel here between what people love and arts & sciences in cinema.

Never watched the last 4 or so years live saw the highlights or just glanced at sound awards see if they got it right or wrong and as for 2020 most of that never showed at cinemas and the 2020 ones should be stripped of award and disqualified as all cinemas have been closed though 2020 and still closed 2021 and may even no look like cinemas slowly one by one going bust and 2021 show was a flop, word is had the lowest ever viewing ever, I account for that % cos I no longer care for ampas show.
