A moment of insanity set in and I signed up to attend the LA Audio show on June 2-4, 2017! I mean for heaven's sake I just finished the AXPONA visit notes. It is an opportunity to meet some friends in person and seems like the exhibitor list is somewhat different.

Anyway, here is the list: http://www.laaudioshow.com/exhibitorlist

Let me know if there are any special requests. And of course, if you are going to be there, it would be wonderful to meet in person.

P.S. The Newport show split and this is one of the two. The other is close to RMAF so I don't think I will attend that one.

Be a nice tip in it for ya too!

Man your a gluten for punishment.
Relax, have a good time, and only cover anything you think really new or special. We've seen way enough pictures of amps and the speakers from all the regular players. JMO

HOLBROOK, New York, May 26, 2017 — Isn’t life grand? It is if you’re listening to the new Nola Metro Grand Reference Gold 2 loudspeaker – which will be on exhibit for the first time ever at the Los Angeles Audio Show (LAAS).

The Metro Grand Reference Gold 2 is an ultra-high-end compact 3-1/2-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed for smaller to medium-sized rooms. It features a number of upgrades from the previous version to deliver an even higher level of musical accuracy, while retaining the classic Nola sonic strengths, such as mounting the midrange and high-frequency drivers in an open baffle to eliminate enclosure colorations.

It’s all part of the Grand design: a loudspeaker with a total emotional connection to the music.

The Nola Grand Reference Gold 2 will be on exhibit at the LAAS, June 2 – 4, 2017 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Los Angeles in Suite 524C.

The Metro Gold Series 2’s updated dual 6-1/2-inch magnesium-cone, Alnico-ring-magnet woofers now have lowered electrical and magnetic distortion that are even further reduced from the already low distortion specs of the original Gold bass driver. In addition, the electrical “drag” of the driver has been lessened, enabling the new woofer to provide remarkable low-level/low frequency resolution, dynamics and transient response. Although these refinements are in the bass region, the sonic improvements result in better realism and dynamic responsiveness over the entire frequency range.

The Metro Gold 2’s ribbon tweeter has been upgraded with components that are now built in-house at Nola. The crossover network has been improved with parts that were not available for the original version, and Nordost silver internal wiring is now employed more extensively throughout the loudspeaker. In addition, a number of further proprietary upgrades have been made to the Metro Grand Reference Gold 2.

While the speaker has been significantly improved, the design attributes that have earned Nola Grand Reference loudspeakers worldwide acclaim have been retained in the Series 2 version. The woofers feature solid copper, gold-plated phase plugs that eliminate coloration and provide tighter bass with superb definition. The ribbon tweeter delivers high-frequency response to 100 kHz, for extraordinary “air” and spaciousness, and full-range reproduction of Hi-Res Audio and other high-definition music sources.

The midrange driver and tweeter are mounted in Nola’s hallmark open baffle design to eliminate any possibility of unwanted enclosure “box” colorations. Additional refinements include proprietary premium high-speed polypropylene capacitors utilizing a new technology for much faster response, three separate crossover boards for isolation from mechanical vibrations and more. The Metro Grand Reference Gold 2 utilizes a double-platform ball bearing isolation base to attenuate floor-borne vibrations. The Metro Gold 2 takes up only one square foot of floor space, yet delivers an expansive soundstage with precise imaging, superlative resolution and a natural tonal balance for vocals and instruments.

The Nola Metro Grand Reference Gold 2 will be available in July 2017 in a stunning Real Santos Rosewood finish with complementing black gloss bases. Black gloss and other custom finishes are available by special order. Suggested retail pricing starts at $40,000 per pair.

About Nola Speakers In 2004 Carl and Marilyn Marchisotto founded Accent Speaker Technology Ltd. and created the Nola product line with the goal of bringing the experience felt in listening to live music to a wider number of people. President and Chief Engineer Marchisotto has been designing audio equipment since 1973 at Dahlquist, Acarian Systems/Alon and Accent/Nola, which now offers a complete loudspeaker lineup from high-performance bookshelf models to the flagship $350,000/pair Nola Grand Reference VI Gold System, designed and built to deliver ultimate musical performance in every respect. Nola loudspeakers employ a number of key technologies including baffle-less dipole drivers, alnico magnets, Unison Crossover technology that optimally blends the performance of multiple speaker drivers, and many other refinements.

LKV Research to Launch Breakthrough Integrated Amp

At the LA Audio Show, Room 538

Contact:

Bill Hutchins

LKV Research

(603) 730-7400

[email protected]

New Hampshire’s LKV Research will announce at the Los Angeles Audio Show its new Verito 1, an integrated amplifier that raises the bar for high-end price/performance ratio. Priced at $2,700 the Verito 1 includes phono stage, preamp and power amp, each of which achieves performance rivaling that of the best audiophile separates available today. The Verito 1 is also available without the phono stage at a price of $2,200.

As LKV’s Chief Designer observes, “The Verito 1 is a groundbreaking piece of gear. We have taken the essential elements of our Veros One phono separate and Line One preamp and combined them with a state of the art Hypex designed power amp. The

result is an incredibly musical, high-end system in one box at an amazing price.”

The Verito 1 is priced to be the heart of an entry level high end system; but its sound quality is so good, it will also be the last system many audiophiles and music lovers will want or need. It includes:

  • An MC/MM phono stage derived from the circuitry used in LKV’s top-of-the-line phono amp, the Veros One. Like the Veros One, the Verito 1 is so accurate and quiet that it comfortably amplifies not only the 5 mV signal from MM cartridges but also the 0.3 mV signal from low output MC cartridges. This performance is achieved using Class A differential amplifier circuitry built with discrete bipolar transistors and hand matched jfets without any loop feedback.
  • A line level preamp whose gain circuitry is virtually identical to that in LKV’s Line One separate preamp, which also employs Class A differential amplifiers built from discrete parts. The preamp section offers selection among 5 sources (the above phono and 4 line level inputs) and volume control via an excellent ALPS potentiometer.
  • A Class D power amplifier which can deliver 180+ Watts into 2, 4 and 8 ohm loads. The Class D module employs state of the art Hypex NCore technology which provides not only the well-known benefits of Class D amplification – high power, low weight and heat dissipation, and compact size – but also sound quality that rivals the best that Class AB amps offer.
The Verito 1’s combination of build and sound quality together with attractive pricing make it a unique integrated amplifier capable of broadening the appeal of high-end audio.

For further information, contact Bill Hutchins via phone (603) 730 7400 or email [email protected].

LOS ANGELESComhear, Inc. a San Diego-based technology company, announced the introduction of YARRA 3DX™ at the LA Audio Show—the audio industry's first affordable beam forming speaker array designed to place you inside any audio experience, from gaming, music playback, VR/AR, conferencing, and home entertainment. YARRA 3DX reproduces 360-degree, surround sound without the need for headphones. The company will be exhibiting at LA Audio Show and attendees will be able to get a first-hand listen to this innovative technology.

Developed in conjunction with researchers at University of California San Diego (UCSD), YARRA 3DX is a groundbreaking beamforming speaker that features hi-res audio, custom HRTFs, multiple users, and wireless control. The 360° spatial 3D audio system used in YARRA 3DX was most recently demonstrated at the recent AXPONA in Chicago to rave reviews. The Absolute Sound magazine's Steven Stone wrote that the system was one of the, "…most impressive demonstrations at AXPONA." And Grammy winning engineer and producer (Stevie Wonder, Devo) Robert Margouleff said, "YARRA 3DX is an ideal replacement for headphones. I like it!"

YARRA 3DX produces high fidelity 3D-audio sound experiences for gaming, music, VR/AR, home theater and conferencing in a remarkably small form factor and at an affordable price. The “smart” sound bar replaces the need for multiple speakers by offering an all in one option for a fully immersive surround sound experience. YARRA 3DX can also model "sound fields" produced by systems costing 10 times more. “

YARRA 3DX sound bar operates more like a sound projector and does something that no other audio technology can match," said Comhear CEO Perry Teevens. “We are looking forward to bringing this industry-first beamforming speaker to the market and are confident our technology will drastically change the way people experience audio—be it through gaming, virtual reality, home entertainment and more.”

Offering best in class Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless, as well as traditional analog wired connectivity, elegant design and smart features, YARRA 3DX can be used individually or as part of a home entertainment network. The YARRA 3DX app will allow users to personalize spatial localization, control connectivity, change from near field to far field reproduction, and model a variety of audiophile grade speakers.

YARRA 3DX speaker system is fully developed and ready for manufacturing, with a crowdfunding campaign launching in June to bring this revolutionary product to consumers. For sign ups, additional information and video, visit www.yarra3dx.com. YARRA 3DX™ beam forming speakers will be available in the fall of 2017.

At the LAAS show, YARRA 3DX will be demoed during show hours on the Mezzanine level, booth 193 on June 2-4.

Los Angeles, CA—May 2017—Periodic Audio is pleased to announce the world preview of its newest model, Ni, Nickel portable amplifier, on display at the 2017 Los Angeles Audio Show in the HeadGear Planet area, booth 112. The showcase will also include Periodic’s recently introduced trio of in-ear monitors (IEMs)—Be, Ti and Mg.

“To push the boundaries of portable high-performance audio reproduction, the system requires more than just a quality set of IEMs,” said Dan Wiggins, co-founder of Periodic Audio. “While Periodic Audio’s IEMs work exceptionally well with mobile devices due to their 32-ohm load, they truly thrive with a quality electronics package. Our new Nickel amplifier is optimized to work efficiently with nearly any headphone while providing audio quality that’s second to none.”

With its compact and lightweight design, the Nickel amplifier exemplifies portable convenience—it measures just 50mm long by 31mm wide by 13mm thick and weighs only 17 grams. The new amp contains a 3.5mm audio input, a 3.5mm output for headphones, and a micro USB jack for charging the battery. With a specified output of 250 mW into a 32-ohm load and typical run times expected to be 8 to 10 hours, the Ni amp will surely meet the demands of today’s smartphone listener.

Since their debut in February, Periodic Audio’s IEMs have received critical acclaim from consumers and reviewers alike. Featuring a utilitarian design focused squarely on performance, safety and comfort, the three models vary only in transducer diaphragm material and cosmetic touches. All Periodic Audio IEMs use a single wideband dynamic transducer for smooth, clean sound throughout the audio band. The flagship model, Be features pure beryllium; the Ti model uses pure titanium, and Mg features a high-magnesium content magnesium/aluminum alloy.

Periodic Audio’s IEMs are now available at www.periodicaudio.com.

Manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing:

Mg in-ear monitor: $99

Ti in-ear monitor: $199

Be in-ear monitor: $299

Pricing and availability for Ni will be available at a later date. High-resolution images and additional technical data for all models available here.

Just what you wanted to buy:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 1, 2017

MAG-LEV, THE WORLD'S FIRST LEVITATING

TURNTABLE TO BE SEEN AT THE LA AUDIO SHOW

LOS ANGELES — The world's first "Levitating Turntable" will be demonstrated in Booth 141 of the "Marketplace" at the Los Angeles Audio Show. The new device from MAG-LEV Audio uses the same principle of magnetic opposition used in trains and other mechanisms. The LA Audio Show runs from June 2 through June 4 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at LAX.

According to the company, the Magnetic-Levitation principle represents a drive and suspension system that is unique in the world of turntables. While most turntables utilize a friction drive system, a belt-and-pulley mechanism or a direct-drive motor, the MAG-LEV uses magnetic opposition -- a principle known to virtually every school child -- to both lift the platter and propel its rotation. The turntable literally floats on air.

The benefits of the system are said to include no parts wear and vibration suppression. The MAG-LEV turntable also features a built-in UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) allowing for the gentle return of the platter to its "feet" on the base, pre-fitted tonearm, semi-automatic operation, digital regulation of its 33-1/3 and 45 rpm speeds; and digital speed switching.

In addition to its unique technology, the MAG-LEV turntable has been developed in an unusual way, its designers in Slovenia have turned to Kickstarter for funding and a video of the turntable’s operation is on its website.

Single-day tickets for the Show are available for $25 by pre-registering at the show's website: http://www.laaudioshow.com/register Discounted 2- and 3-day tickets are also available.

Registration and attendance is free for qualified press, see http://www.laaudioshow.com/press-registration

This is not a good omen. Went down to grab a bite to eat while companies are setting up. As soon as I sit down, the power to the entire floor goes out and emergency lights come on! Wonder what kind of monoblock someone plugged in to make that happen! :D Fortunately they resorted it 10 minutes later.

Quick look on the second floor shows that these guys plan to get things working the last minute. Nothing was playing at 7:00pm....

Might be visiting 'the forum ' in LA end of September so any advice on being a visitor in LA would be nice.. it's been 20 years or so since I was there.
I don't think it has changed much in 20 years! The #1 thing for me to do in LA is to eat good food. :)
