how to connect the miniDSP to have a 2.1 system
integrated stereo amplifier that drives the 2 satellite speakers and 1 active sub woofer, can I control the volume of the sub with the miniDSP remote control?

can I control the volume of the sub with the miniDSP remote control?
You can control the volume of the entire system using the Volume Up/Down buttons on the Remote, as well as switch between four different presets.

You can setup these presets with four different subwoofer levels, then switch between them using the Remote.

If your integrated Amp has its own Remote, then you can use it to control the volume of just your satellites.

Increasing the satellite volume will effectively decrease the subwoofer volume, and vice versa.

Once you've found a subwoofer<->satellite balance that you're happy with, just use the miniDSP Remote to control the volume of the entire system.

I can cut the bass and send it to send it only to the sub and the rest of the band to the satellites
and equalize both the sub and the satellites, as I want?

the PC audio is reproduced by connecting to the USB source of the miniDSP.
the CD player connected to the optical input of the miniDSP. the FM tuner to the RCA inputs of the miniDSP
Are the signals from all sources equalized before entering the sub and amplifier?

I just came across with this thread, and I also have read several of your posts on other threads.

If you would consider further PC(or Mac)-DSP-based multichannel multi-SP-driver multi-amplifier advancement in your audio system, my project thread would be of your reference, I assume, especially my latest detailed system setup in this post #931.

the miniDSP stays on, it only turns off when I disconnect the power, it's difficult for me to always access the power, what do I do?

Short answer: Yes and you will be pleased if you do it...
I suggest the miniDSP 2x4 HD. the
Longer answer being prepared ... ;)

Peace.

Leave it on always, but when you don't have power, you don't have power. Or am I misunderstanding you?

Hi

I would suggest to just take it easy. Take baby steps. One at the time and if you persevere and do it correctly , you will delighted.
0) Acquire a miniDSP UMik-1
0.5) Download REW

Research, read, learn, ask questions then...
go into the direction of:
1) use the amps as a "power amp". Do not mess with its volume setting once the system, is set. I would suggest max volume ,but begin with a mid-set. so that you don't blow up your speakers, then you will have to bring at a point close to max and leave it there, forever :). Don't touch it again.
2) Use the miniDSP as a preamp/DRC/DSP/Crossover.

Things become complicated from there but please keep reading. The miniDSP 2x4 HD, can provide your audio system with a level of correction that can only described as superlative. All that for a (relatively) modest cash outlay. There is a lot of learning involved there but to keep it simple.
The miniDSP 2x4 will perform an excellent crossover job: It can send, to put it simply all the bass to your subwoofers and the rest to your mains speakers. The mains are connected to integrated amp, that I suggest you use as a power amp.
The level of flexibility is bewildering. You can choose the frequencies ( I suggest under the customary 80 Hz to begin , perhaps stay there..), the slope, the type of filter, the levels, ... etc for the mains independently of the sub or subs, since you have 4 outputs (2 for mains and 2 for subwoofers...).
You can apply equalization to each output separately.. EQ for left, Eq for right, EQ for sub1 , EQ for sub 2..
You can even apply delay between subwoofers and mains to align the speakers..

But all this should not be done by ears, you must measure, for that you need REW ($0, but I strongly suggest a donation) and the miniDSP UMIK-1 (<$125). If you don't know, yet , how to measure, there are threads in here, ASR that would guide you . Or... you ask questions, in this thread, these fine people here, will guide you.

I hasten to say this is not going to be "press-a-button-and-you're-done": . It will take several iterations; depending on your level of involvement , free time and perseverance: From a few days, to a few months... Yes, a few months, if you are just beginning (and even for many long time audiophiles, this can be challenging). You will be tested, frustrated, but, perseverance will reward you with a system that extract the max , from your gear, in your environment.

Peace.

ive had my 2x4 for a couple of years because i havent been able to figure out what to do after measuring. sure, change eq, but why and how are not clear. it sits.

Is it normal for the miniDSP 2/4 HD to heat up a lot?

How can this sub be connected to the miniDSP, only with a Y RCA cable or also with a srereo RCA cable?

OUT 3 in input R of the sub
OUT 4 to input L(LFE) of the sub
Do I need to correct it or is it okay as well?

There's no point in connecting two RCA cables to the sub.

Just miniDSP->RCA->LFE input is all that you need.

As staticV3 said above you only need a connection to the LFE input, however be sure in the miniDSP configuration software that you’ve set both stereo input channels to output to the single output for your subwoofer.

is it okay this way?
