I have an Onkyo AVR with hdmi section that's biting the dust so am starting to look for next power source. I listen more to, and am more critical of, 2.1 music than TV movies. I'd much rather get an 2.1 receiver for music but feel I can't lose my center for dialogue. Right now everything streams through Apple TV which is connected to my AVR then eARC to TV.
I figure the Apple TV can input to TV then audio out to amp via optical, right? So then the center goes away. Maybe my mains will fill the dialog in sufficiently? Guess I could do a soundbar kinda setup?
Any thoughts are appreciated. Sorry, kinda all over the place. Just don't feel like spending $900 for an AVR for nothing more than 3.1. Thanks!
