18" Ported Subwoofer Build, Advice on best driver.

Can you expand on this a little bit?
I did, right below the picture..

I like the blue line. Whatever that speaker is.
I clearly stated what line is what speaker and configuration.

If you know a speaker that looks like the LaVoce but behaves like high excursion UMII18 that would be the one for me.
That’s not how physics works ;) The UM has about double the excursion. To facilitate that, you need more rubber to stretch the distance.

" UM in a closed box, and the blue one is reflex (16 Hz tuning). Either works pretty well. The LaVoce is the green one with still impressive bandwidth." I see this now! Thank you, apologies, I was on my phone and didnt see this.

"At 110 dB at 20 Hz, the closed box version of the UM is still very capable, though. I'm sure the Polk will not keep up with that amount of bass! And that's just a single box "
Maybe then I will upgrade the Polks haha. The addiction has begun!

Thank you for your help!

Does this sound crazy to you? The reason I wanted the LaVoce speaker is because I like the way it looks.
No, you're not "crazy". Speakers involve trade-offs. Appearance, and size, etc., are normal considerations. Just having an 18-inch visible woofer and/or a big box can be a "visual statement." Most people don't want an 18-inch sub in their living room. I have a pair or 15-inch subs in big boxes and ridiculously tall "speaker stacks"... I'm single so I can get-away with it. :D I like the look of horns (but I don't have horns).

Drivers are usually hidden-protected by a grill or woofers/subs are sometimes down-facing so you don't always see them. And most people will notice the appearance of the box (wood finish, painted, etc.) more than the driver. Pro studios seem to like "showing off" the drivers, and it might improve the sound with high frequencies, but cloth or a metal grill doesn't really affect the bass.

Thank you for the information! ( and being on my side lol )

PS.

voodooless has been helping me locate a driver with similar performance of the ULTIMAX II but with looks of LaVoce. Do any speakers come to mind?

Max SPL at mid 30 Hz and overall linearity there, rest you shape and definitely close enclosure preferably not a shelow one either. Fs as low, Fbox also and preferable 8 Ohms sensitive enough (and it will be it's 18" after all) so aim at that and juggle. If you want port do it it just under woofer itself more for a useful boost (2~2.5 dB) than extension and good luck tuning.

My sub 18 inch driver facing the wall soo it looks like a a white cube and that’s it , there are some creative ideas to make it work , just be creative

Nice smooth finish. Looks great. How about one LaVoce facing forward and one. (UGLY) Ultimax II facing backward?

Your preferred box it too small for that. Also mixing woofers for the same bandwidth isn’t a very good idea. The LaVoce really holds it’s own, you should be fine with it.

Why or what for? Very few designs with different drivers in one box exist. But it is unlikely to be useful in your case.
IIRC there is a patent by Mesanovich on this.

Modeling anechoic frequency response is of limited use for home subs. IMO\IME.

I have four 18" sealed subwoofers with reasonable cheap pro drivers in my living room, two of them are inaudible. No one equalizer was hurt:
