Looking for mains that would be used for HT and music. Also, looking for mains that can play full range and provide satisfying bass independent of a subwoofer. Want to avoid speakers that are bright or fatiguing to listen to. Looking at towers that can be purchased new or on the used market. What are you buying?

I would strongly consider the Neumann KH420.

“The performance of the KH 420 was superb. The bass at times was quite scary and it causes resonance in the entire house. You felt like you were in a vibration chamber with tracks that extended down to 20 Hz and lower”

I went with Meyer Sound speakers which have even more dynamics BUT at the expense of bass.

You need to post room size , listening distance , I mentioned in the other thread. There are no true full range speakers for less than $10k. Only possible with significant room gain and well placed so not have nulls in listening position

Whatever the budget I'll exceed the budget, as any normally built audiophile would do.

I found my revel salon2’s used for 9 g. Hard to find better.
Those are on the list as well. Pair for $8k and 11k on US audio Mart. They are discontinued right? Would it be difficult to get parts?

Salon 2.

Hard to beat Salon2 when it comes to sound quality, but there is a risk of the Salon2 losing replacement driver support. I would lean toward the JBL M2 over Salon2. But there is also something to be said about running active speakers and getting off the upgrade treadmill.

A used JBL 4367 is easily in the budget. It’s the passive version of the M2 with the same drivers and similarly stellar measurements.

I second the KH420 suggestion from above, great speakers. Something very different directivity-wise though & of course active.

Two threads, one goal.

Philharmonic Audio BMR Towers $4500 ish
Absolutely, easily the best value proposition i can think of....taker the other 5,500 to the casino for 1 hand of black jack, you could end up with free speakers , even if you lose it's still a decent deal....

Hard to beat Salon 2's if they are available for under $10k used. I have a pair I bought 10 years ago. They are still going strong. With the original boxes and shipped on pallets LTL, there is a low probability of problems. Unfortunately many owners consider the Salon 2's as their last speaker purchase so used availability may be limited.

There were a lot of silver or white Revel F328Be's around with some amazing deals. You may find a pair for under $10k. They are shipped new and hopefully used, in huge cases, again on pallets, LTL, so no worries with shipping.

If you decide you want to keep most of the money in your pocket the Revel F208 is a great choice. F208's measure about as well as any speakers. They are discontinued but you may still find new ones and of course there is used.

I use KH150's as computer speakers and they are really nice. The KH420's would likely be good, but I've no direct experience with them. I'd rather have towers.

Speakers with list prices well over $10k should be available at 20% to 50% off. Always get quotes.

More along what I was thinking, maybe M2s if you can get a deal and have other gear to supplement....

Neumann KH420G's is also what i would suggest, JBL (M2 or 4367) is over budget, but if you can find a deal that fits your budget, and your room is big enough (these need 20M² at least) they are as good as the KH420G's
