  1. Yes, the volume is adjusted through relays, so you will hear a distinct "click" sound when changing the volume.
2. Currently, we don’t have a crosstalk graph available, but you can refer to our measurement table for details.

  1. In general, the remote control for the D900 is expected to be more responsive.
4. Absolutely, the preamp section of the D900 offers better performance than that of the Pre90.

  1. Amir will receive a D900 unit for review, but it may take some time.

They should state that the D900 has a relay volume control as this is a TOTL feature they should brag.

Maybe they don't advertise it because it is a hybrid relay volume control like the DX9 15th. Every 6 dB is analog, and you hear the click sound, but the dB in between is digital.

Even so, like RME AutoRef, this is a genius solution.

I was considering the Dx9 15th anniversary, cause I wanted a flagship Topping, but now the DX9 is entry level..
Flagship... entry level... by what metric? just the price...
In that case I'm more than willing to sell you a flagship Topping DX5 II for €2999, i mean it must be flagship with that price tag :D:p

Sadly sometimes is not only user-error:

The DAC in the Bluesound Node 2i sounded like crap compared to any other DAC I tried.

D900 teardown:

Seeking some advice on the D900 audio setup with my existing stereo speakers and subwoofers. Regrettably, Topping did not include RCA outputs alongside the XLR in the preamp output stage, necessitating simultaneous volume control with the D900. Not being able to use my subwoofers with the D900 might be a dealbreaker. Is the sole viable solution to acquire a separate preamplifier, allowing the D900 to function exclusively as a pure DAC?

A900 will be released on Tuesday 15th. Topping claiming an insane 151db dynamic range.

Can you use a high level connection directly from your amp or speakers?
I believe REL suggest this as preferable, and I have subs from a UK company called MJ Acoustics who recommended this method also.

Topping should avoid getting into the SOT (Snake Oil Territory).

You could use XLR to RCA cables. The signal will be like RCA, with halve the output voltage of XLR.

Yes my subwoofer does accept high level connections. It just means more speaker cables running around instead of a single RCA cable connection. It’s a better alternative than spending more money on a good preamplifier. This method does allow me to use the D900 internal preamp.

Will adding a subwoofer to the chain between the B200 amplifiers and speakers affect the overall sound quality compared to a direct RCA cable connection to the subwoofer?

Just to double-check, is this the correct setup? D900 -> B200 -> Subwoofer -> Speakers?

The issue isn’t converting the XLR to RCA. I’d still have trouble controlling the volume with both speakers and the subwoofer at the same time on the D900. The D900 XLR preamp outputs will be connected directly to the B200 amplifiers. I could theoretically use the other XLR *line out* to a subwoofer that accepts XLR (or convert to RCA), but I wouldn’t have volume control with the D900. Adjusting the volume separately between speakers and the subwoofer would be a cumbersome process.

Ah, the B200 is a bridged design I believe and has a "floating earth". I don't believe this is compatible with a high-level connection without some additional electrical gubbins...this is what I was advised by my sub supplier (I was thinking of getting a pair of B200s).

Regardless, thank you very much for the suggestion! I really appreciate you trying to help me out. I guess my only options are a preamplifier or looking into a different unit.

Edit: I found a solution to my problem, Luxsin X9.

Please don't say this since it isn't true and makes ASR look bad. There are plenty of dacs that are audibly different due to performing audibly poorly etc.

Try a LA90D with volume control. A benefit over B200.
