Beautiful designed enclosure but they forgot to add about 11cm in width. For the asking price of this, it should be standard HiFi size. Also, why not add HDMI arc or HMDMI audio in.

I mean, this product is for the anti delta-sigma public who likes something more exotic and are willing to spend plenty. If you want insane cost benefit, the DX5 II is the way.

Dx9 is a beast dac-amp, but so is the DX5 II and you can get for less than 250 in Ali with coupon and coins

Don't worry. There will be another flagship when the industry manages to make a better chip than the AK4499EQ and it's been a few years already. In the meantime, if you don't have a DX9 15th you can settle for a Discrete DAC although just in case you'll probably want to wait to see the measurements before buying it....

Received my D900 for 3 days, no bloatware, just pure performance. Best ever Topping DAC I've ever heard (far better than D90iii Discrete+A90D). So musical, with detailed mid and tight bass, even under LOW volume.

How can DAC's have a SOUND SIGNATURE if they measure as transparent?

I know there are people out there that think cables affect sound, which is much worse, but there really is no response to something like that, but just to smile and nod. But what about people who talk about DACS as if they were headphone drivers or speakers, and talk about the SOUNDSTAGE...

Good point, still waiting for A900 to do a final comparison of the 2 suites. I've been using D903d+A90d for 6 months, I can already say the D900 sounds quite different and more appealing to ears.

"All DACs sound the same" ONLY as regards "bits", and the thread you pointed to above does not prove the point you were trying to make - in fact, it states the opposite.

Once the bits are extracted and CONVERTED to analog (for example, for export to an external amp), they can sound VERY different depending on the output chain. In addition, different architectures (e.g., R2R vs. Delta-Sigma) can have totally different sounds due to the WAY they convert digital to analog.

They do NOT all sound "the same", at all.

I think what's interesting in the D900 specs is that just isn't any improvement compared to other models they already produce. There's just nothing more to get out of a consumer DAC in terms of sound quality. Added features like PEQ are now the main difference between models.
