I would have love this more if it had balanced output to feed to the ZA3. The ZD3 is good but it lacks a headphone jack plus I prefer the warm sound of tubes. Without the balanced output I don't see any difference between the GR40 and the P3.

The big difference is that the GR40 has a real ESS9028Q2M dac.

I agree with the balanced output for a more serious looking but, in home Hi-fi, short RCA cables are as good as balanced cables.

Can't find the specs for the headphone output anywhere around. Does anybody have those? Thanks

EDIT: Specs found. For your consideration:

* Four Inputs: BT, UCB-C, Optical and Coaxial.
* Two Outputs: RCA and a 3.5mm headphone jack
* Headphone Amplifier: 300mW@16 Ohm, 250mW@32 Ohm, 50mW@250 Ohm and 40mW@300 Ohm
* Bluetooth Version: 5.1
* DAC Chip:ESS9028Q2M

Hi all,

This is my first post on this forum.

I recently purchased the Fosi Audio GR40 and I’m really enjoying its sound quality so far. However, I’ve run into an issue with DSD playback when using foobar2000.

Here’s the problem:

When I set the output of the SACD plugin to either DSD or DSD+PCM, the GR40 recognizes the stream as DSD (the "DSD" indicator lights up). However, the playback has a consistent gap or stutter approximately every 25 seconds, which repeats at regular intervals.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
  1. Enlarging the buffer in foobar2000 – no improvement.
  2. Testing playback with JRiver Media Center (trial version) – the exact same issue occurs.
Since the problem happens with both players, I suspect it might be an issue with the GR40 itself rather than the software.

Does anyone else own the Fosi Audio GR40 and experience this issue? Or does anyone know of a potential fix?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Andrea

Just FYI I reached out to Fosi Audio support, and they fixed my problem. They provided an ASIO driver for the GR40 and after using that as output in foobar2000 DSD playback works flawlessy. I'm very satisfied of the product and of the support.
