Crutchfield has a ‘Compare And Listen’ app on their website. You can select 2 or more speakers and compare the sound. You can also choose the brand of headphones you are using to make the comparison. Has anyone used this? What do think? Is this comparison viable?

I wouldn't trust any conclusions that I drew from such a test no matter how they do it.

What Crutchfield does offer that's very useful is in-home trial.

If the OP provides a link we can all decide if this is still a thing. Or it's just that Crutchfield has yet to update its website.

I tried the link comparing Lintons with the MA Silver 100. I couldn’t get the comparison link to work.

So, here are some instructions. As an example……… Go to Crutchfield Web Page, select Home Audio, Speakers, Bookshelf Speakers. The side bar has all the brands. Click on the Monitor Audio box, click on the ‘Compare and Listen’ box on the Silver 100. Do the same for the Wharfedale Lintons; click the Wharfedale box; click on the ‘Compare and Listen’ box on the Lintons. The rest is intuitive.

That’s the best I can do.

Speaker wise, it seems like 2023?

But for the headphones, they have the Sony WH-1000XM6 which is only 3 months old.

On the other hand, they probably pick the speakers that still sell or are popular. They don’t need every speaker just a few from each manufacturer.

Having two of the speakers available on the comparator, it does paint a general flavour of them. I can hear pretty similar mid & treble differences that I hear swapping speakers in my same placement position, from my same listening position.
The bass response is less accurate due to room interaction.
I believe it’s definitely better than nothing, especially as a starting point, if you’re thinking of changing from and to speakers that are available within the comparator.
