Any way to obtain an accurate and smooth distortion percentage chart for speakers?

REW seems to have a good algorithm to calculate harmonic distortion even in high noise environment,I will try two ways and later I will compare to data on ASR and neumann ,hope i can get some interesting result!

Any way to obtain an accurate and smooth distortion percentage chart for speakers?

OK thank you! I will give it a try. and a good news is that I found the distortion outdoor is reasonable cause I was misunderstood the 1% distortion in mid bass, that part is actually cause by speaker itself, not by environment. still can be better in mid freq but 4 times sweep with timing...

Any way to obtain an accurate and smooth distortion percentage chart for speakers?

Now it's a dilemma. If I move outdoors to measure distortion, the frequency response is flat and the percentage mode is accurate. However, I can only measure distortion as low as 1% because the outside noise is really loud. Indoors, I can measure lower distortion, but the uneven frequency...

Any way to obtain an accurate and smooth distortion percentage chart for speakers?

The problem of loud noise occurs outdoors. Indoors, I am not bothered by background noise, but rather by uneven frequency response caused by room reflections and the errors in percentage calculations caused by the uneven frequency response when switching to percentage mode.

Any way to obtain an accurate and smooth distortion percentage chart for speakers?

I can obtain good frequency response, directivity, and other useful information when measuring speakers outdoor, but when it comes to harmonic distortion, I encounter difficulties. The background noise outdoors is too loud. It's not a problem for measuring high sound pressure levels, but when it...

How to handle a large orchestral mix?

I received a very large orchestral multitrack project, which includes: 1. Mono recording with each instrument. 2. Overall ST tracks with ORTF and AB versions. There are also several ROOM tracks. 3. Decca L/C/R tracks. 4. SurrL/SurrR/Out LR/Out RF/Out RR/Out LF tracks. 5. L&R tracks, along with...

Some questions about headphone preamp THD+N vs Power Chart

OK that's what i missed! so if i connect to loadboard with 300ohms I simply enter 300,and 32ohms enter 32,is that right? cause I see it's for dBW and worrying about making another mistake:p

Some questions about headphone preamp THD+N vs Power Chart

oh I think that's the reason! no I never enter that and I even don't know where to enter it…

Some questions about headphone preamp THD+N vs Power Chart

DUT sheet shows this data. and here is my steps of measuring. 1. I use cosmos Loadboard ,switch to unbalanced and 32ohm,plugin to headphone output, and use multimeter to read the Vrms and calibrate REW generator to the actual reading. 2.I plug XLR out from loadboard to cosmos ADC input, and...

Sooo many questions about preamp Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) measurement. please help!!!

Rja,although i decide to use rew,I still have some questions about this method. I actually tried to increase my preamp gain to 50dB and record a sine wave signal in reaper, then watch the rms above it,which is about around-12 as i remember. so-80.8+12-57.7=-126.5, far away from the true data. so...

Sooo many questions about preamp Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) measurement. please help!!!

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I am trying different versions of REW to see if this part changes. and all the suggestions you mentioned. It will take some time, and I will get back to you later with an update.

Sooo many questions about preamp Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) measurement. please help!!!

I did notice a difference in the data compared to others. Mine is consistently at -129.8dBu Awt, while others are around -130.5dBu. I'm not sure if this is related to what you mentioned. Could you please provide more detailed instructions on how to calibrate this? So, if I input a -50dBV signal...

Sooo many questions about preamp Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) measurement. please help!!!

I encountered a significant setback while studying the process of measuring the Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) of a microphone preamp. There are several tutorials on EIN measurement available online, but I have many areas of confusion, which has resulted in me spending over a week without fully...

I cannot find the gain or preamp options when creating EQ impulse file in REW for EQAPO convolution.

As stated in the title, I don’t want to switch to tools like rephase and I want to complete all of my EQ impulse file creation within REW. However, it seems that a basic gain option is missing, which is causing red overdrive in the EQAPO display after applying gain to any frequency range...

When I test the mic channel (ADC), does turning the 48V selection on and off make a huge change in the parameters?

I want to test the harmonic distortion and noise floor produced by different audio interface when recording, but I have many questions: 1. What is the difference between the microphone signal and the line out signal? Is the THD+N measured by connecting the line out to the mic interface useful...
