Usb out it has. Not a deal breaker for me but i can't understand why it doesn't have one. It's cheap, easy to implement and doesn't take much room.

Thanks. I ask for this specifically as it was one of the major flaws pointed out in the peq section of fiio's app. Plus to me they are very handy if you just want to boost a frequency section. Like more precise tone controls i guess.

I think I'll wait for the wiim ultra. Maybe it's the solution for me. If they keep what they've been doing it'll be easy to use, not too expensive and will have the features i want. Hmm. i doubt it would make a difference. Minidsp is complex enough for me. Even if i know and understand what it is, i doubt i will know how to use it properly. It's really not high end use at all. I just want those two features i mentioned before. From what i understand camilladsp only works...

My experience is exactly the contrary. Never had issues with my pc as a source. Can't say the same for my smartphone with usb dac for example. At this level everyone uses some sort of exclusive mode i think, so no background sounds i'd say. R7/R9 are much more practical and take a lot less...
