The never ending rabbit hole....What Avr would you recommend for my setup? Marantz, Denon, Sony, Anthem, Yamaha, Integra, Emotiva or??????

Really? The SQ of the Anthem components is excellent. My friend only uses the 1140 and it is superb. Just giving my experience.

I have an Anthem 8k MRX driving a 5.1.2 system. I have a separate Anthem 5 channel amp that drives the three front speakers and the height speakers. The Anthem stuff sounds excellent. The pre outs sound much better than my older Marantz. It does not do Auro. 3D though, just Dolby Atmos and DTS...

Good article in the NewYork Times about Dolby Atmos

Love all the opinions by folks who have never heard Atmos music in a properly set up home environment. I use a 5.1.2 system in a 10x15 room. Phenomenal results. Movies are an added bonus. When mixed well like the DG concert performances, oh my. Kills stereo. Some mixes suck, what else is new...

There is always duct tape. Gee my Fios remote has a microphone too. Not worried about that either.

It is isolated in a closet and my AVR has a noisy fan. They will hear nothing so I am not worried.

And this is different than what occurs in many industries where the big boys exercise their muscle and influence? Not saying it is good at all but how the world works, at least in a capitalist world.

Nothing remains the same. Time moves on. Look at TV. Can’t get component video. Only hdmi. Shifting standards. Just the way things are. b

Audio stutters with USB Dacs on Macbook M1 Pro

I just saw this. I have a MacBook Pro with the M1 chip, 16ram and I use a 4TB LaCie drive where all my music is located. I run Audirvana Studio controlled by an iPad into a Schiit Yggy LIM DAC via a DH Labs usb c to b cable. No stuttering issues at all. The SQ is damn good too much better, to...

I would not be in favor of it replacing stereo mixes. I believe in choices.

Yes, I listen to music tracks mixed to Atmos. I gave examples before. I have a few 2L Pure Audio Blu rays, Yello’s point, which is great fun. I have also been evaluating Atmos mixes for an audiophile label which will be putting out their first Atmos release which will be available as stereo DXD...

Friedchicken, bless your heart but you sound like an audiophile who argues that you can’t hear, or your equipment is not good enough if you do not agree with me. I have two dedicated rooms, one for HT the other for 2 channel. My 2 channel room has damn good if not insanely expensive equipment. I...

Why can’t it be that a given mixer/producer/recording engineer enjoys the tech and want to use it. Why does it have to be that they succumb to marketing hype? It isn’t a black and white proposition as you seem to be implying. Use it or don’t. If it fails, so be it. If it succeed, you can have...
