Great review, thanks. Amazon Basics cables are my personal favorites as well. Snug, but not stupidly tight connections, soft, flexible cables, inexpensive. And most importantly, as good as any overpriced snake-oil cable.

The schiit customer service issues haven't been issues for a very long time now. Still, you raise a valid point; I've never had any pot issues with my atom amp.

Yeah, the modi does have that going for it, but the atom dac+ adds an optical input at least. I've been very happy with the two modi 3s I have in use. They've been rock solid reliable since I got them.

At this point they're both so similar I'd just get the one that has the features you want. The modi 3+ has a coaxial output, metal build and no need for a power brick if used over USB. The atom dac+ measures slightly better (IIRC, but they're both clean dacs), full size usb port and upgradable...

Now we're talkin! Ordering one of these ASAP for my living room setup.

I have the YU4s; the version of these with all the other features. Connected to a sub, I've been very happy with them at my desk on custom built stands. They really open up when played loud.

Yep. Definitely not audible though, so no need to "upgrade" from the standard modi 3 if you have it.
