Making a trip to LA to try some speakers at Vintage King

You might want to consider the Buchardt A500SE or A700. They go pretty low and the master tunings with integrated room-Tuning are awesome features

    3D printing desktop speakers. Thoughts?

Minimum Infill to later fill up the cavities with dry sand. The Sand will provide perfect dampening and it will still be structurally solid

Buchardt A700 Active Tower Speaker Review (by Erin)

Did anyone else noticed, that the specs say 17-40kHz (+-1,5dB) and the measurements only go from 53-16kHz (+-6dB) in Neutral? „Cardiod with more bass“ is not much better in bass…

looking for a streamer/DAC with Airplay 2 + wifi to connect Adam active speakers

The wiki artical you attached clearly says, that all Airport Express have an optical output. It doesn’t have the usual Toslink connector but a 3,5mm Socket for the diode With a Toslink to 3,5mm Jack Adapter you can attach your amp to the Express Edit: The Airport is actually really capable as...

looking for a streamer/DAC with Airplay 2 + wifi to connect Adam active speakers

welcome to the forum :) Well it depends on what you want. The Airport also has a digital (optical) out. If you only want to use the Maratz build in DAC you can go that road.

    3D printing desktop speakers. Thoughts?

Depends on the printing technology. If you happen to have a LPBF printer at hand, you could also leave unwelded power in the cavities, creating a massive powder damper. but even the standard FDM printers can create cavities that you can later fill with dry sand to get a really dead speaker...

Value-oriented, digital out, fool proof, state of the art sound STREAMER

Sorry, I Never used uPnP but usually you can enable volume control in ALSA. Even if the volume is not meant to be controlled (SPDIF output) Regarding the Topping I am not an expert either. But if you are planing to hook something to the PIs USB the PI 4 is usually recommended, because the...

Value-oriented, digital out, fool proof, state of the art sound STREAMER

I used a RPi 2. Back then the RPi 3 just came out but I did not see any advantages to the 2. I switched to the wxc , because I wanted the Napster integration. i controlled the volume over my streaming source. You can do that over SPDIF but I read that it is kind of messy. Currently a RME...

looking for a streamer/DAC with Airplay 2 + wifi to connect Adam active speakers

There also is the Primare Prisma NP5. It has AirPlay 2, DLNA, Chromecast, Roon, Spotify, ... and only digital outputs. because of the small volume production the price is quite high thou

Value-oriented, digital out, fool proof, state of the art sound STREAMER

I had some issues with the WXC-50. It pushed a lot of noise into my Monitors over SPDIF-Coax which it picked up from my NAS over LAN. The noise was even present when I removed the power. My Raspberry with Digiberry-HAT did not have that problem. To be fair, I never heard from anyone else, having...

looking for a streamer/DAC with Airplay 2 + wifi to connect Adam active speakers

The Airport Express is capable of Airplay 2, but there is a little fiddling required because some software versions distorted the audio output. The topic is discussed Here It has a Toslink Out. You would still need a proper DAC afterwards

    Primare Prisma NP5

just tested it again. I have a RME-Adi which has a buch of test files between 96 and 441kHz each at 16, 24 and 32 bit. Playing them triggers the RME to display a text, saying that the bit test was successful. The only way I can play 96kHz from my notebook is over DLNA. I use SofaPlay and I does...

    Primare Prisma NP5

The Box looks really nice. I like especially like the USB out. AirPlay 2 is missing though. Thanks for sharing! I don’t know of any device, that can do that. In the Apple cosmos, the Apple TV 1 had Toshlink, HDMI and LAN ...

    Primare Prisma NP5

First of all I have to say, that I don’t have Roon and the experience with it might be different. I used to own the SotM SMS-200. I liked the USB output and got it used because of the great reviews. After using it I can not say that I share their view. The SMS-200‘s interface is very slow to...

Headphone Measurements Using Brüel & Kjær 5128 HATS

BK has great products but they try to give the impression that they are the only one. Which is not true. There are more companies offering acoustic measurement heads with ears. I’ve been working (on a different subject) with hard- and software from HEAD acoustics who specialised on designing...

    Primare Prisma NP5

Hello everyone, I’ve been lurking around for sometime here before registering and I really like your approach to music and „HiFi“. I was looking for a streamer with digital out, supporting Airplay 2 DLNA and CC I came across the Primare Prisma NP5. After some reading I decided to buy it. It...
