Interesting new studio speaker design from present day production

??? You should keep in mind this important quote from the same review: "Note: Data approximate below 100 Hz" Distortion measurement in this SOS review was done at farfield (prone to noise pollution, etc.), not in the nearfield - as it should be. So, no - it is impossible for a 8" Purifi PPT8...

Interesting new studio speaker design from present day production

Well, the "incredible bass" and "modular and upgradable" are undeniable features. As in many audio magazines and portals, it needs some reading between the lines (and thorough examining the measurements).

A new hype in the world of the ultrarich: glass speakers

You are late to the party - they appeared some 15 years ago and they were instant hit. But now, as you said, the demand is peaking... From the thread "Most beautiful speakers in the world" (additional bolding for emphasizing): Other fun facts: Damping material is in the short tube...

'Headroom' is a measure of the badness of an amplifier. The bigger the number, the worse the amplifier.

But you are comparing apples to oranges orcas! Only meaningful comparison is amplifier "A" (100W cont., 50W headroom) to amplifier "B" (100W cont., Zero W headroom) - they differ only in their headroom! And Zaphod clearly prefers amplifier "A" with higher headroom: But that contradicts his...

'Headroom' is a measure of the badness of an amplifier. The bigger the number, the worse the amplifier.

Lesson on (lack of) logic: First - the premise: OK, then what do you think - which amplifier will sound better: Answer:

    bass guitar speaker cabinet

Those are hi-fi woofers, which are not suitable for bass-guitar. Sensitivity is low, but the most important is their inability to reach high enough in frequency. This is frequency response of a real bass-driver (Jensen BS 10N/250) for bass guitar: I built a bass-guitar combo with above driver...

    Rogers LS3/5a (BBC) Speaker Review

It is Sound quality vs price. No, the fifth row is titled Overall - that is "what is the best...". Of course you can get much better speaker for 2475 English pounds, but that is another story...

    Rogers LS3/5a (BBC) Speaker Review

Theory: The second row in the "stars" table is Value (for the money). Practice: Value for Falcon LS3/5a is 4 stars (should be 1 star). In the first row (Sound) full 5 stars for the same speaker is very questionable, to say the least (should be 1 star).

    Magnepan LRS Speaker Review

No, all amplifiers do not sound or measure the same - especially if one of them (Audio Analogue Verdi Cento) is a hybrid amplifier (with 10 years old tubes ). Anyway, I will call one of your amplifier suspicious, measurement-wise. Difference of 3 dB is too much, it is on the border of broken...

    Magnepan LRS Speaker Review

Sonus Faber Grand Piano has elevated high-frequency band and other problems in the critical 2-4 kHz range, so there is no wonder why you like LRS more - your in-room response is very good, indeed.

    Magnepan LRS Speaker Review

Amplifiers have nothing to do with the frequency response of the loudspeaker (with tone controls on flat, of course). Measure the frequency response of LRS in your room with different amplifiers and you will get exactly the same frequency response.

    Magnepan LRS Speaker Review

Room is very big factor, I have done many measurements in many customers rooms, while changing speaker positions in a search for the best frequency response at the listening position. But in many rooms, despite all efforts, results were not satisfactory, even with DSP (or software) correction...

Theoretical - simple stereo amp into speakers of different sensitivity, impedance

    1) No damage to the amplifier, right speaker will be louder. But if there is a balance control, you can adjust both channel to be equally loud. 2) No damage to the amplifier, both speakers will be equally loud.
