I’m looking for recommendations on a good mic preamp/USB interface for loudspeaker measurement. My Scarlett Solo bottoms out at -90dB IMD from my testing which is also documented by Virtins test report.
This is the bottleneck in my measurement system.
Thanks
I would like to share my test on the RCF ND850 2" compression driver. The results are pretty good when used as a midrange.

There’s so much discussion about system pairing in the audiophile world, matching preamps with amps for example. Is there a case to be made that one device in the signal chain can compliment the other to improve the overall objective performance/sound quality? Specifically in terms of the...
I would like to share my latest blog where I test microphone distortion between four different mics.

Below are the test results between the four mics.
I’m looking for available software that allows for measurement of Gm (GedLee distortion). I see that Virtins offers it in their full version.

Also, according to Gedde’s paper (ref 5890), mention that frequency dependent Gm’s must be left for...
I would like to share my test results for wood horn (No.1671) mounted to the Viawave SRT-7 ribbon tweeter.

Thanks
I would like to share my YouTube video where I evaluate my microphone's distortion (Dayton UMM6). What do you think about my conclusions? Yes? No? Maybe?
I adopted my test procedure from here.
This question arose from my own curiosity since none of my IMD tests for speakers do any...
I would like to share my latest YouTube video comparing IMD both indoors and outdoors. There are some cautionary conclusions for indoor measurement. It does raise some further questions, such a why the room reflection artifacts disappear after raising the test SPL to 100dB versus 95dB. It...
I thought I would share my latest blog post where I'm looking at music spectra in relation to IMD products I'm measuring with my loudspeakers. As it turns out the IMD noise level is quite considerable when looking at low level spectra from my favourite recordings. I may not be able to prove...
I would like to share my review on the Seas FA22RCZ 8" fullrange driver.

I would like to share my latest blog post. A full test on my latest mid-bass horn design.

I would like to share my latest blog post. I compare two woofers and propose a test method for acquiring intermodulation distortion values.

I would like to share my latest blog post where I horn load a RAAL 70-21XR ribbon tweeter and provide a full measurement comparison against a regular speaker baffle.

I’m sharing my latest blog post on the No. 1159 horn loaded 2-way bookshelf speaker. I show a full set of acoustical measurements and compare it against a regular non-horn loaded speaker baffle.

I would like to share my lastest blog post where I do a full set of acoustical measurements on my 600Hz Biradial that I've designed and made on my CNC.

I've also done a YouTube video showing the same measurements...
I was curious if anybody has measurements that show that a servo control loop on a subwoofer actually lowers distortion at frequencies in the 20Hz-50Hz region. I'm sure it would need to be the same test setup where the loop is turned off and on to show the difference. There is a lot of...
My latest blog post on how to achieve clean bass. I focus on distortion measurements on the speaker itself as a criteria for developing a system design that meets your sound quality goals. https://josephcrowe.com/blogs/news/design-rationale-for-multiple-subwoofers
I would like to share my blog post on horn loading x4 midrange drivers and the resulting acoustical measurements compared against a single non-horn configuration. Please let me know your thoughts or questions. This is now what I'm using for my main listening rig. After some EQ to flatten the...
