I think a simple way of saying it is that the higher the impedance the fewer the watts are required since amps are constant voltage devices. I don't think it even matters for the vast majority of people since we really don't listen that loud.

I think it's a better idea to use higher crossovers with multiple subwoofers. 120-150Hz should be enough for the LS50 to play very loud. You want to make sure any EQ or room correction isn't boosting the LS50 also, I know Audyssey boosts dips by up to 9db.

True but one has a Klippel NFS to design their speakers now and the new versions all seem to be much better than the previous version because of it.

I measured the Q150 in my room years ago to see the difference the plugs made, should be very similar to the LS50.

2 LS50 can create a good center image but it is no replacement for a center, dialogue sounds much more natural coming from a center on top of the TV than what stereo can create. I also listen to music in 3.1 with the center about 5db lower than the fronts and that also sounds better than stereo...

They don't recommend it because they'll make less money mostly, the R6 meta measures very similarly but of course visually it doesn't quite match and the build quality won't be as high. You'll have to decide if it's worth paying more for the reference.

For sure I could see some people liking that sound but the point-source nature of the LS50 is the sound I prefer for music. I agree using R2c or R6c as LCR would be a great LCR option.
