    Curse me, but I simply l o v e MQA

To me, and listening to my setup, MQA sounds nothing but gorgeous. Bought MQA versions of Joni Mitchell’s »Joni’s Jazz« recently and of Randy Newman’s remastered »Trouble In Paradise« just today. They sound just great. So – is something wrong with me? Or – good Lord – with my setup?!

    Qobuz and MQA

With UAPP you can still see MQAs on Tidal, although only in 16 bit (even 24 bit MQA files are only read in 16 bit). The "funny" thing is that there are MQAs on Qoboz too. The screen is one of the MQAs encountered the last period in the Qobuz catalogue This is further proof that audiophiles hear...

Stereophile's Jim Austin Says Streaming Atmos Sucks

Nobody ever said MQA sounds bad. Absent a different master, it sounds the same as any lossless file (even if MQA isn't actually lossless). You can enjoy them, just don't pretend it is somehow better.

MQA filter always applied in Aurender A10?

John from Stereophile mentions about MQA filters being applied to non-mqa files in this review. I am assuming this is not good and should not be done. Does this mean MQA filters are applied to non-mqa files whether the source is files stored on the internal hard disk or its streamed from Spotify...

MQA is back in hardware form

A multitude of audiophile debates on this subject are all over the internet. MQA supposedly dropped from hi res streaming apps after it was exposed as snake oil. Any thoughts? https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/mqa-is-back-in-hardware-form-yay.1225446/

    Hi From DownUnder

Just noticed the little line re MQA at the bottom. Yep, I hated the thought of MQA, never bought anything that had it. Then I picked up a barely used A&K SP1000 DAP. It had some MQA files in it’s onboard storage. Couldn’t resist to try one. Then another. Aaarrrggghhh!!! They actually sound...

    New NAD CD Deck

I am not an engineer. I'm a relative dummy. But for several years of being here, I know that MQA was a disaster that deserved to die. Everything with MQA costed more because of the licensing. I'd look for something that doesn't have those magic words.

Need to replace my S.M.S.L SU-1 with a DAC w/ volume control

    Hi From DownUnder

I've heard some very nice sounding MP3's, Ogg Vorbis, AAC's and other lossy codecs too. Imagine how good they would sound if you had all the missing pieces??? :p

    FiiO KA11 Portable DAC/Amp Review

Link please. I don't think it supports MQA—in the sense, onboard MQA "unfolding"

    Hi From DownUnder

About to start my evening listening session , using my A&K ST1000 and Aune AR5000 headphones. Have some MQA files on it as well as normal FLAC files. Much to my surprise, the MQA files seem to have a clearer, cleaner sound signature. Don’t know why, and contrary to what I had hoped as I had a...

    FiiO KA11 Portable DAC/Amp Review

Yes. Although, since MQA is a scam, supporting MQA might be seen by some as supporting a scam...

Need to replace my S.M.S.L SU-1 with a DAC w/ volume control

I’m also considering S.M.S.L D-6s. In any case: Can I be sure that the volume control affects DSD und MQA playback also?

    New NAD CD Deck

It does. QRONO and MQA mentioned in the literature.

System architecture - "traditional" vs computer-centric

I agree with the second half of your statement, but Atmos is a much more impressive technology than MQA. MQA was quite obviously a scam. Atmos is something I might be mildly interested in for music, and very interested in if I was into movies. Which I fortunately am not. There is! There's...

    SMSL PL150 Review (CD Player)

I saw, Amazon America declares HDCD and MQA, Amazon Italy does not. The player lacks the XMOS chip for decoding MQA, don't worry about HDCDs, they can be read by all CD players, the 20 bits are cut to 16 and will sound like standard CDs.

Bit-Perfect Audio on Linux with PipeWire

Feishin , that uses mpv EDIT: interesting - when playing files with VLC, I see sample rate changes (according to the file) - but not the MQA led turning on when I play that specific FLAC file downloaded from Tidal EDIT2: i had "audio resampler" turned on in VLC as "automatic" . I guess it's...
