SMSL RAW-MDA 1 DAC & Headphone Amp Review

Hi @Kitty (S.M.S.L Marketing) Can SMSL look into this issue with RAW-MDA 1 ? Such bugs are very dangerous and can damage customer equipment (which has already happened, as claimed above).

SMSL SU-2: a dumb, wasted opportunity

it just a placebo (imagination). You should do a poper blind test I am sure the difference will disappear once you cannot see what device you are using, as is always the case in such situations.

SMSL SU-2: a dumb, wasted opportunity

They should not differ sonically from the SU-1 unless one of them you have is broken

i2s input dacs for multichannel build

My electronic engineering skills are close to zero, so I dont’t even think about it. But it may be useful for someone building multichannel setups, thank you When I was trying to do some research on this topic and figure out how to get cheap I2S DACs to play with, I asked ChatGPT and got advice...

i2s input dacs for multichannel build

I have a few PCM5242 I2S DAC boards and an AK4493 board with I2S inputs. I did obvious sync tests (a single impulse click over all channels to check for any delay or smearing issues). So far, no issues. Can there really be any? Isn’t the I2S input always unbuffered and using the I2S clock? Of...

i2s input dacs for multichannel build

I use your York interface in a biamping system, and it is a great little device, very easy to configure. I can recommend it to everyone looking for a configurable multichannel interface. is that AK4458 8ch DAC your prototype? Nice to hear you are working on a multichannel DAC too. I found no...

    3e Audio TPA3255 Amplifier Kit 480-1-29A Review

how i can estimate it? i have driver datasheet which says 2x3ohm Nominal Impedance, 2 x 2.4 ohm DC resistance for dual coil driver and i connected coils in parallel

    3e Audio TPA3255 Amplifier Kit 480-1-29A Review

I use the 480-1-29A to drive a 1.5-ohm sub driver. It works pretty well, even though 3e has not rated this board for such a low load. The metal plate mounted on the case got only slightly warm. However, I worry about those PBTL resistors; they are really hot and not cooled by anything. I tried...

    Neumann KH120 II Monitor Review

My KH80 died after a few years, and the KH120 II developed tweeter noise just after a few months. Likely, your assumption is wrong. And it is not about drivers, active speaker with DSP is a complex device with at least two amplifiers inside , two power supply , dac adc and dsp

    Neumann KH120 II Monitor Review

You will void your warranty by doing this, and it is not something you want with neumanns.

Introducing DSPi | A powerful, user friendly and open source DSP for less than a cup of coffee

is it possible to implement external clock source for i2s outputs for applications like diy crossovers with two dacs? if it makes sense great project for many diy projects, again, ty for your work

Introducing DSPi | A powerful, user friendly and open source DSP for less than a cup of coffee

Because they are simple to create (just two clicks in REW with an existing measurement), and they produce great results for room and speaker correction. Better than any PEQ generation in my tests

Introducing DSPi | A powerful, user friendly and open source DSP for less than a cup of coffee

Nice project! Do you plan to add I2S in the future? Many DAC boards have I2S inputs, so it will be easy to stack them with Pico 2 and your firmware. I wonder if anyone can use it as a digital crossover/multichannel EQ with clock sync.

    Upgrading loudspeakers to digital crossovers/bi/triamping

That’s what I was thinking too; it makes sense for new projects and makes crossover tuning much easier. But there are no meaningful advantages over well-designed passive crossovers, single amp and loudspeaker EQ. But there might still be something I’m not taking into account, since I have no...

    Upgrading loudspeakers to digital crossovers/bi/triamping

This is an interesting project with many components, for sure, but it is still hard to say why it can’t be done with passive crossovers plus whole-loudspeaker EQ. Have you tried to measure it before and after? You certainly have a measurement mic setup for such projects. Without measurements...

    Upgrading loudspeakers to digital crossovers/bi/triamping

Doesn't this make equalization more difficult? You will need two EQ passes one for crossovers and one for loudspeaker FR correction. Or you need some complex combined EQ for each driver which is harder to make

    Upgrading loudspeakers to digital crossovers/bi/triamping

I have seen a lot of projects like this, but I have never seen any before/after measurements confirming the claimed improvement in performance. What do you think about the meaningfulness of such upgrades? Maybe someone has done this and has taken the measurements or has seen some, or knows of...

    KEF LS50 Meta Review (Speaker)

going to compare them side by side, without and with EQ. The first thing I noticed while listening to a single speaker: the 120 II feels like a single point in space. Even if I close my eyes, I can instantly say where the speaker is. And the LS50 sound is kind of ambient; it feels like some...

i2s input dacs for multichannel build

Yeah, another great option. But more pricey due to the HAT form, I guess. Still wondering why there are no multichannel DAC boards on the market. Many DAC chips have 4 or 8 channels already — they are just thrown away.

i2s input dacs for multichannel build

so far i found 'BD93 AK4493 DAC board' on aliexpress, pretty cheap (under $50 shipped to my country) , 2 channels, masurements are nice There is a review of this board on YouTube: by some Russian guy. He talks a lot of nonsense about op-amp swapping, but at least he has measured it at the end...
