Topping D90 vs Denafrips Ares II?

Or you can just be making this up. Or you two anonymous gentlemen could be members of the same insane audiophile clown posse for all I know. The point being, everything you wrote is just completely anecdotal. Comparing the reactions of a science based site to that of an anti-vaccine or...

    WolfX700 Measurements of HoloAudio Azure

And I don't think they would be able to tell the difference if they couldn't see what they are listening to. In fact, I'd bet good money on that. Unfortunately, I have yet to see one of these 'magical hearing' guys agree to take part in a properly conducted blind test, which is why I blocked...

Which new Headphone Amp should I buy

Warm, smooth, fun, musical... People say all sorts of things. Many subjective audio forums are like audio Dungeons and Dragons for adults. The 'leader' or 'forum master' says; 'Oh this amp sounds blah blah blah.' And the followers listen and also say 'Oh yeah, it does sound blah blah blah'...

What's the science behind more power leading to better sound?

I know exactly what you're referring to. T60RPs or similar can be driven perfectly with an SMSL SP200 (or any similarly measuring amp), with headroom to spare. It delivers around 2.1 watts into 50 Ohms, single ended. Unless you're referring to the HE6se, in which case, I can't really say (I...

Old stereo receiver blows away my headphone amp

This reminds me of a show entitled 'Rust to Riches' I was watching today on Netflix. They took a rusty wreck of a 1950s Buick, restored the outside to look like stock, but completely modernized the internals with a powerful V8 and suspension, in order to create a 'sleeper'. Maybe someone...

Chord Hugo M Scaler - Stereophile Review (measurements also)

It seems to work quite well as Chord audiophool-shill bait.

What headphone(s) do you own ?

Sound impressions? Which one do you like best?

What headphone(s) do you own ?

I think Fostex went through the trouble of shaping the external appearance of the wooden housing so that it looks like the standard T50RP, to show off. That can't be easy. They aren't just putting 'liquid wood' into some mold to get the same shape. For the same reason, I doubt the internal...

What headphone(s) do you own ?

I drive mine with a S.M.S.L SP200 THX, single ended. It provides all the headroom necessary to get the best out of the T60RPs. (The SP200 has the highest single ended output of all the current THX offerings...and I don't need to be bothered spending another $80 or so for a balanced cable.)

What headphone(s) do you own ?

Thanks! (Edit: I'd be happy to send mine, but I'm not in Europe - not to mention the world is in lock down. 2nd Edit: That RAA site is a great resource). :)

What headphone(s) do you own ?

The pads are also different, actually. I also find it hard to believe that changing from a plastic to wood enclosure will not cause a sound difference. Assuming that those are the only two differences, we really can't know for sure until someone actually measures them. ;) I am genuinely...

What headphone(s) do you own ?

Would the ZMF Ori/Backwood, Argon, Mayflower, Dekoni Blue (or any one of the other numerous T50RP mods) measure similarly? They are basically all the same driver. Isn't it the housing, pads, (and I assume) damping material, driver matching (possibly), that differentiates their sound signatures?

What budget speakers you like to see reviewed?

I second the Presonus E5. I'd also be interested in seeing reviews of the Edifier R1280T and R1700BT.

What headphone(s) do you own ?

Background music for the apocalypse? Sure, makes sense! :D (kidding) For me, the T60RP is one of the most underrated and best valued headphones out there. It's arguably the best implementation of the Fostex planar driver. For my listening, it complements the LCD-2Cs nicely. The LCD-2C is...

Understanding subjectivists; the problem of engagement

Funny, I've never really considered myself either an objectivist or a subjectivist before I got into audio. I just dislike being sold to, or outright conned, by industry shills. In many cases, subjectivism is just an excuse.

Does DAC performance = great sound?

Still running with my i7/dual GTX 780s in SLI that I built....6 years ago now (wow!). If I were to build one today, I'd go with a Ryzen 9 and a 5700XT.

Does DAC performance = great sound?

Yeah, I really like the design of the Element II, as well. Particularly with a custom engraving, it's just nice to look at on my desk - simple and elegant.

Does DAC performance = great sound?

It depends. Do you want to take the red pill or the blue pill? It's surprising how much of how one approaches high-end audio depends on that question. ;)

A response to "Grinding your own gears" by John H. Darko

You may have a somewhat idealistic image of a 'subjectivist'. If it is indeed, some wide-eyed teenager who is just discovering the 'magic' of well reproduced music (an image your pacifistic introspection seems to evoke) then I can understand that. The reality is, many of these guys are...

Does DAC performance = great sound?

Or maybe you'll end up like some subjective forum hillbilly talking about imaginary differences between DACs. I think that's an interesting thought.:p;)
