And this is my supersport :)

Is there a subwoofer that can powered on and off with remote control or windows app?

Any subwoofer with "Trigger In" port will do the trick for you. All you need to figure out is some source which you control from your phone and which has "Trigger Out". This by turning on the source, the subwoofer will receive the signal and turn on as well. If you don't have a sub with Trigger...

Why don't acoustics get more attention?

My "boss" accepted a little mess after she heard the DIFFERENCE before and after. :)

Why don't acoustics get more attention?

To clarify, floor and ceiling early reflections - YES (treatment always). As for the side walls, if the speakers are bad (poor directivity) then - YES (treatment necessary), if the speakers are good (outstanding directivity) then - NO (no treatment required).

Prices... am I out of touch?

Let me tell you something. You can get into cheap hi-fi/hi-end if you play your cards smart. I'm keeping track how much I spend on my audio gear. Take a look at the total cost I've spent on everything. The cost is in AUD. Translated to USD it's going to be around $6500. Most of my expenses went...

Wiim Pro Plus vs Wiim Mini + Topping e30 ii

What does the measurement mic show when you run a sweep? Is the sound at exactly the same level between both? Is the SPL curve the same between both? If both are identical try a blind test, ask someone to change sources. If your guess rate is 50/50 then there is no difference. If you got it 10...

Does Streamer Matter when using External DAC?

If the streamer controls volume, there may be a processor involved. Depending on the implementation it may or may not interfere with the signal. For example Yamaha WXC-50 downsamples on SPDIF output even if it's in just a streamer direct mode. Doubt it will be audible though.

What is your favorite house curve

I've probably tried every house curve out there in the Internet and those that I came to myself subjectively. My most favourite one is the following, nothing more, nothing less: To create it, I first used a little of manual PEQ on DSP: My dual subs and speakers crossover at 100hz. Then I...

    Placing a second sub

Trial and error. Disregard the smart articles and go by REW measurements, your personal experience and you will find the best location that works best in YOUR room. Don't hesitate to try placing the subs even behind your main listening position (MLP). And since you have two subs, try to keep...

    Starting a Hifi-system

All the hi-fi hardware won't sound hi-fi in an untreated room. Ask me how I know it... It's great if you've already taken care of it, but if you haven't, then the budget will be blown by another couple of grand for the DIY acoustic treatment or even more so for some non-DIY commercial stuff...

Help with deciding acoustic panel design.

While scrolling through this topic I didn't notice anyone mentioning the density of the filling. It's very important! If the Rockwool is too dense, the panels will start reflecting higher frequencies back into the room. At the same time if the Rockwool is too fluffy, it may not provide enough...

Reference music tracks for subjective evaluation of speakers and headphones

In my opinion...well...not just mine :) the recording mastering, speakers and room acoustics are the most important factors to have the best enjoyment from the record. The resolution itself, be it compressed MP3, CD, SACD etc. doesn't make much of a difference. According to blind test studies...

Reference music tracks for subjective evaluation of speakers and headphones

I think you would gain a great benefit from reading Floyd Toole's book "Sound Reproduction. The Acoustics and Psychoacoustics of Loudspeakers and Rooms". The answer to your question is also in that book. It's frequency response (the smoother the better) and speaker directivity. While frequency...

Reference music tracks for subjective evaluation of speakers and headphones

You could always try the program material that Floyd Toole used for speaker blind tests.

Impressions on WiiM Pro Plus vs Yamaha WXC-50 and miniDSP Flex vs miniDSP 2x4 HD

I thought I'd share some input here guys as I've recently upgraded my equipment: Audio streamer: from Yamaha WXC-50 to WiiM Pro Plus Audio processor: from miniDSP 2x4 HD to miniDSP Flex (external DAC+room correction) I've used my original hardware for about 3 years now and as some of ASR...

Loudness Control on Yamaha A-S301 Measurements

Have you ever been interested in what the Loudness Control knob does on Yamaha A-S301 amplifier exactly? It is used to compensate for perceived loudness in some way according to the equal loudness curves (after D.W. Robinson and R.S. Dadson, 1956) when listening to music at lower volumes...

A 1-Year Room Acoustics Journey, the BEFORE and AFTER comparison

Yeah, that was from the central seat. As for what gave the biggest improvements. There were two: 1. Adding the second subwoofer gave a substatial improvement in lower end. 2. Adding pressure based acoustic panels around the room gave an audible boost in overall clarity and low frequencies. The...

A 1-Year Room Acoustics Journey, the BEFORE and AFTER comparison

I've been working on my room for over a year from zero knowledge about acoustics to what I know today with the help of Audiosciencereview forum which triggered the whole thing for me. I think I've reached some kind of a milestone to share the BEFORE and AFTER comparisons of how Room Treatment...

Logitech Z623 in my home office SPL graph

I've had Logitech Z623, a set of computer speakers, for maybe 6 years now. This is the picture: They cost roughy $89.90 on Amazon For the most part they were lying back in the closet collecting dust. Recently I decided to set some music in my home office. So I got them out and put them on the...
