how did you like the Gato sound compared to Apollon?

I 'd love to know if you did the swap from S300 to a different class D, and what you thought. (context: I am about to buy class D power amp, i can get a good deal on the S300, but maybe i should spend a bit more and buy an Apollon or Boxem Purifi)

could i ask anyone who ordered an Apollon in the UK- did you get billed 20% VAT on the cost (including delivery), or did customs add extra charges? (I think they shouldn't, but being a bit paranoid....)

Hello I am interested in comparisons of this to the Primare A35.2, which i understand has its own class D tech, and looks prettier but more expensive, and to smaller class D specialists like Nord and Apollon. I do understand the distortion of the NAD measured worse than Nord and Apollon units...

yes maybe i shouldn't have opened that can of worms on an unrelated thread, sorry the gain was not levelled by measurements, so this could of course be all there is to it

i largely agree... but blind listening sessions (where my friend who is a trained pianist, but not hifi obsessed, was the blinded judge) made me decide on DAC- Audial S5 edged out Denafrips Pontus II, hence selling the latter

you are probably right, but too late now, lab12 on the way, class D TBC... It is meant to have stunning soundstage, let's see

yes my logic is to keep the sound of the preamp unaltered. still remain to be seen if it's a good idea or not. Size, weight, heat also matter

hi, trying to understand current configuration- is there one that has XLR and RCA which can be switched, or is that one of the old models only?

SO i think i am close to taking the plunge but this whole class D is new to me.... How do i decide whether to get the Purifi of Hypex? If i get Purifi,which of the three should it be? and why is one so much more expensive- the 1ET7040SA, even though it has slightly less power? I guess it's up...

Just getting to grips with all the various choices... so I guess the "Lux" is the same as the basic model with a fancy case, making it quite heavier? Any benefits apart from looks?
