Yeah, this was basically my thought. Double check that heat soak wasn’t causing the protection on the 8-ohm sweep, etc.

Stereophile said he operated the amp at 30 minutes at moderate power before testing. Any chance you could do similar before a power sweep?

Do the modules or powe supply use the chassis as a heatsink? Or are they just open air?

@Buckeye Amps do we know if the protection kicking in with the 1khz signal was due to the known defect?

Regarding the protection kicking in during that review and limiting power, is that protection from the module itself, or does buckeye add its own protection?

Can anybody with access to the stereophile review spoil what the 8-ohm 1% THD figure is? A rough guess of where the elbow on the 8-ohm graph is would also be helpful.

From a numbers standpoint, I’d go with the Schiit Kara (in passive mode) combined with a Loxjie D40 Pro, or a SMSL DO100 Pro to save little more. I’m currently using the very similar Schiit Freya S and SMSL SU-9 Pro combo to great effect. DMP-A8 by itself would probably be good, but we’ve yet...

No, it’s fairly new. It was released to match the SU-X dac. You can find the SH-X at the usual SMSL dealers.

I’m curious to the differences between the SH-X and the H400. Some PCB shots to count the number of relays would be nice. Unless I missed it, the SH-X hasn’t really received any discussion around here.

So, my take on all of this… If you only have $700 to spend and want the best speaker we have Klippel data on, the DBR62 may be it. There have been a lot more speakers measured in the last four years. You can get things almost as good for less money or things that are better for at least 20%...

I just upgraded from DBR62 to Sierra-LX and feel like it was a massive upgrade. At lower volumes they aren’t too dissimilar, but the Sierra-LX stays cleaner at higher volumes and has stronger bass.

I have a SX-1115-RT with this weird green terminal block for remote turn on. Anybody know of a way to get this to turn on from a normal 3.5mm 12v trigger? Any kind of adapter?
