    Hypex NC252MP cautionary tale

Despite Hypex does not provide MTBF or failed modules ratios, what are your failure numbers, as a manufacturer selling these MP modules ? You surely have some stats, at least during warranty period ? This would be way more interesting and useful than links on random user stories :)

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Imagine I am telling you Earth is not a sphere but instead a flat piece and that some others folks on internet are saying the same. Isn't good enough to convince you ? What you're claiming goes against what physics, electronics and mathematics tell us... Nevermind. Most important is that...

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

Can you provide scientific and logical reasoning backing this statement? Because, unless using voodoo, using my (limited) understanding of physics and acoustic, I cannot see any explanation for such statement...

Looking for some kind of external 12v trigger device for miniDSP Flex

Arf, I did not remember (despite I also owned one previously) that the flex did not have a trigger out. Thus, forget what I said. In your case, I only see a master/slave power strip. These one has a configurable detection down to 8W on specs but was able to detect down to 5W with my Flex HT...

Looking for some kind of external 12v trigger device for miniDSP Flex

MiniDsp Flex(x) devices power consumption specs are not currently reflecting real ones. See this discussion. I was in the same situation ( but with a Flex HT). Master / slave power strips with wattage consumption detection is not reliable in this case with Flex HT devices. I ended up with a...

Monoblocks Hypex NCX500 Boxem or Nord Acoustics

I would also opt for @boXem :) I love its rock solid audio sense implementation and his customer support. I currently own a boxer 5519/N3 (and before owned a boxem Arthur 3409/N2). I like Fred vision and care. The up side down module placement concept introduced with the "A" is interesting...

Do you keep or resell gear? Does resale value influence your purchase decision?

I usually buy stuff new and always have in mind the moment where I might sell it. And for sure , it influences my choice. When replacing an item, I never keep it as spare item and put it on sell straight away. I always sell items at half price of retail price despite these are in pure mint...

    Site Status thread?

Experiencing issues here in France. For the past few weeks, randomly depending on the day and time of the day, page loading is delaying by random delay (up to 5-10 seconds)

I replaced my AVR with a Flex HT, but don't recommend it.

There is no import tax on devices such a Flex in EU. You only have to pay your country VAT + DHL customs processing fees (around 15-20€ as DHL will collect VAT from you and do all the customs paperworks). See this post for detailed calculations:

    Minidsp Flex Review (Audio DSP)

It depends on the USB cable. For years I was using cheap 5m usb cables (for both mic and pc connections) with my minidsp devices (flex, flex ht) without issues. Unfortunately, as they got broken by a lovely pet, I got newer cheap ones (different models). Didn't work or randomly. Tried another...

I replaced my AVR with a Flex HT, but don't recommend it.

Minidsp Flex HT cannot and will not replace an AVR. It is not meant for that. In some circumstances (niche applications), it allows to remove an AVR from an AV stack. Which was my case but was a very specific use case. I had a mixed music and HT environment: - HT usage : AVR handling AV...

    MiniDSP Flex HTx

You're right about ARC . But I presume the feintech gets the hdmi data from my source (lpcm 5.1, no ARC involved), acts as an earc device and sends the audio stream to the flex via earc.

    MiniDSP Flex HTx

I don't use HDMI for music so I can't tell. I only use HDMI for AV streams. I have just checked: - With TV channels (DD 2.0) Flex HT reports 2 channels - With netflix and prime video (5.1), Flex HT reports 6 channels. Never got any glitches nor pops. Transition between formats and streams are...

    MiniDSP Flex HTx

On the feintech device, you can set the edid to auto, 2.0, 5.1 or 7.1. I have set it to 5.1 or 7.1, not auto. My source doing the decoding, it always send LPCM, maybe with a fixed format.

    MiniDSP Flex HTx

I use the flex HT for : - stereo music (toslink input) - TV/Movies (HDMI input) The Flex HT, as mentioned many times, supports only LPCM (up to 7.1) through eARC. As my AV source (internet provider TV box) is doing bitstream (including Atmos) decoding to LPCM 7.1 but not over eARC, I needed the...
